The traditional title of Messiah, or "anointed one" was an honorary title of God's appointed King/Prophet of the Israelites.

Saul was a messiah, David was a Messiah, Zedekiah, the last king of Israel of the line of Judah was a Messiah

The word “Messiah” is an English rendering of the Hebrew word “Mashiach”, whose translation is “Anointed”. It usually refers to a person initiated into G-d’s service by being anointed with oil. (Having oil poured on his head. Cf. Exodus 29:7, I Kings 1:39, II Kings 9:3).

There are many Messiahs in the Bible. Since every King and High Priest/pastor was anointed with oil, each may be referred to as “an anointed one” (a Mashiach or a Messiah).

For example: “G-d forbid that I [David] should stretch out my hand against the L-rd’s Messiah [Saul]...”

I Samuel 26:11. Cf. II Samuel 23:1, Isaiah 45:1, Psalms 20:6.

Jesus is called THE MESSIAH because he was to be the last and final Israelite Prophet who was sent as a last chance redemption for the Jews (who had killed so many Prophets).

Christians have changed the meaning of Messiah to mean a GOD or a saviour for the whole world.

In your words:
"Jesus is called THE MESSIAH because he was to be the last and final Israelite Prophet who was sent as a last chance redemption for the Jews (who had killed so many Prophets)."

Which of our prophets did we kill???????
And if you think we killed J*sus, you cannot be more wrong.
Bible scriptures do not tell the truth...
So how do we know that the account of Jews killing Jesus is nonsense? Analysing the Gospel acocunt shows it for what it is. The so called trial given in the NT story is the completely opposite of the Jewish law
1) It takes place at night- all trials were held during the day
2) It takes place in a private home- all trials in jeruslaem were held in the court of the Sanhedrin in the Temple courtyard
3) There were very few people present - there have to be a minimum of 21 judges in a capital case- in Jerusalem the full Sanhedrin of 70 judges heard capital cases.
4) If a court cannot find a person guilty, they are forbidden to hand them over to secular authorities - the "court" in the NT does not find jesus guilty, and then hands him over.

So four serious violations of the halacha (Jewish law)- which since they were in a capital case means the death sentence for those committing the violations- yet the NT keeps slandering the Pharisees and their strict adherence to the law!

On top of that- you have a big problem, a Roman governor who is later removed for excessive cruelty! (You gotta wonder- and this from a people that watched people fighting to death, getting eaten alive etc for fun!) And yet a conquered, powerless group of people is somehow meant to have the ability to get him to obey them?

What does make ssense is if this whole ridiculous scenario is inserted in to remove the blame from the Romans when the early Christians were trying to convert them and needed a scapegoat! Who better than the people that had rejected their new God - ot removes the blame from the people they are trying to convert while giving an excuse why the vast majority of them have rejected him!

I don't think we have changed the meaning.
Messiah still means anointed one.
You might note that the Jewish people themselves look for the coming of Messiah, not a messiah, but the Messiah, who they believe will free them from bondage and set up Israel in it's rightful place once more.
There are messiahs and there are antichrists - but that does not deny the Messiah or the Antichrist.
The meaning has not changed.
Jesus is more than just a messiah. He is also Savior and God. Not that that is the new meaning. But it is also part of who he is.

The Messiah was to be descended from David. Two different geneolgies of Joseph are given in the Bible. He is either 28 or 41 in descent from David, but Joseph was not Jesus' father, so Jesus cannot be the real Messiah. Christians try to have it both ways in saying Jesus was the Messiah and the son of God. Judaism says Jesus was not the Messiah, and that is why Christianity split from it.

No, Christians haven't changed the meaning of "messiah." Everything you said about the meaning of the word is true, and that's what Christians mean by it. They don't mean "God" or "savior of the world." Those are separate titles that carry their own meaning.

The only thing I would dispute with you about is when you said Jesus was the messiah in the sense of being the final Israelite prophet. I think it's clear in the new testament that they intended "messiah" or "christ" to carry the same meaning it did with David as king, only Jesus was the final eschatological king of Israel. In fact, claiming to be "king of the Jews" is what got him crucified. He wasn't JUST a prophet.

In Judaism, the Messiah (Hebrew: מָשִׁיחַ, Standard Mašíaḥ Tiberian Māšîªḥ; Aramaic: משיחא, Məšîḥā; Arabic: المسيح, al-Masīḥ; "the Anointed One") at first meant any person who was anointed with oil on rising to a certain position among the ancient Israelites, at first that of High priest, later that of King and also that of a prophet. In English today, it is used in three main contexts: in a Jewish context, it refers to the anticipated king of the Davidic line prophesied by Isaiah, who will rule the Jewish people during the Messianic Age; in a general sense, it means any such saviour or liberator of the world; and among Christians, it refers to Jesus of Nazareth identified as the Christ (Greek: Χριστος, the Anointed One).

We may consider the confession of Peter in Matthew 16 and the words of Christ before his judges. These incidents involve, of course, far more than a mere claim to the Messiahship; taken in their setting, they constitute a claim to the Divine Sonship. The words of Christ to St. Peter are too clear to need any comment. The silence of the other Synoptists as to some details of the incident concern the proof from this passage rather of the Divinity than of Messianic claims. As regards Christ's claim before the Sanhedrin and Pilate, it might appear from the narratives of Matthew and Luke that He at first refused a direct reply to the high priest's question: "Art thou the Christ?" But although His answer is given merely as su eipas (thou hast said it), yet that recorded by St. Mark, ego eimi (I am), shows clearly how this answer was understood by the Jews. Dalman (Words of Jesus, pp. 309 sqq.) gives instances from Jewish literature in which the expression, "thou hast said it", is equivalent to "you are right"; his comment is that Jesus used the words as an assent indeed, but as showing that He attached comparatively little importance to this statement. Nor is this unreasonable, as the Messianic claim sinks into insignificance beside the claim to Divinity which immediately follows, and calls from the high priest the horrified accusation of blasphemy. It was this which gave the Sanhedrin a pretext, which the Messianic claim of itself did not give, for the death sentence. Before Pilate on the other hand it was merely the assertion of His royal dignity which gave ground for His condemnation.

you have defined the non secular which skill of Adultery. that's what we'd desire to Repent of or replace the strategies from: Lies! we are to relearn and think again till we arrive at what God is relatively asserting and denounce the fake teachings. that's the place the secret of Iniquity comes out from. it truly is relatively appropriate in our own blood, because of the fact we've been taught it (Born into sin and formed in iniquity). that's what cuts off existence. no longer in basic terms the fast existence (common), however the Quickened existence (perpetual). Jesus Christ is the Quickening Spirit. you do no longer might desire to Die!...it truly is a lie. The Church device which preaches and teaches those lies is an Adulterous female, spiritually speaking, and all who sojourn along with her drink the blood of her fornication. they're in the mattress along with her. Christians "borrowed" anything they could from Judaism and paganism, then through repititive use tried to change the meanings... and then they are 'persecuted' when anyone reminds them of the real origins.
