He says Jeff Gordon is the best Nascar driver ever. He's full of of it. There are plenty of drivers who are better than Gordon. For example Richard Petty, Earnhardt Sr., and David Pearson. Ricky Craven is just a washed up never-has been driver.

sllde has the best answer. mindcrime828, gloria_512, K D, saq428 (most of all), and Gizz i mean Bizz, all of your answers suck. Gordon might be the best driver today, but that's just because he has the best equipment. That's why all the hendrick car's finish up front each week. The nascar of today is not about who's the best driver it's who has the best equipment. That's why Jr is going there. Today it's 10% skill, 10% luck, and 80% equipment. It use to be who was the best driver. In old Nascar there were many times when a driver would take a horrible car and win race after race. Not today if you get a nick in the paint you are done. Gizz, how do you know I'm not a nascar driver? ummm. you don't!!

Jeff Gordon is the best driver ever today. Petty and Pearson have retired, Earnhardt Sr is deceased. But Ricky Craven is an idiot.

Alot of people already mentioned points I wanted to make. Ricky Craven basically means that Jeff Gordon is the best driver he has had the chance to race against.

Also Ricky Craven is no idiot, and he's not some washed up driver. Ricky Craven has raced some pretty good seasons in his career. Also Ricky was involved in 3 major accidents in the late 90's which I believe slowed his performance down on the track.

Ricky has just been on the bad end of some racing deals. He deserves some credit from race fans.

While not a fan of Ricky Craven....ever. I have found most of his columns and interviews fairly informative. Him saying Jeff Gordon is the best driver ever seems to be his opinion. Had he not said it of a driver you obviously dont like, I doubt if it would be an issue for you. Arguments can be made that he is ONE of the best drivers ever, of course I doubt you want to hear that either.

By the way, quit saying Gordon stepped into a winning race car and comparing him to the drivers of the 50's, 60's. Its easy to say that because he has never drivin on BIAS ply tires that he doesnt compare. How do you KNOW that? Thats right you dont because he hasnt and we will never know. For all you know he might have been even better.

I wouldn't say Ricky is an idot, but never had the chance to live up to his potential. When Ricky raced there were only three or four teams to beat in NASCAR and he wasn't with one of them. If Jeff hadn't been with Hendricks since he got into NASCAR would he have as may wins and championships that he has? Think not. He is a good driver, but he hasn't raced on BIAS ply tires his whole career. It would be unfair to compare him to the likes of Dale Sr., Richard, Cale, The Alabama Gang, Neil or Bill. He's just good now.

Ricky Craven said that Gordon was the best that he (Ricky Craven) ever raced against, not the best ever. You need to start paying attention before you start posting crap.

Again...if you knew how to take Craven's comments in CONTEXT instead of out of context to serve your own agenda, you would see that Craven did not say best EVER. His answer was in response to this statement...and I quote it exactly, "I was in my first automobile race in the spring of 1982, at a track in Unity, Maine. Since my debut behind the wheel, I have raced across the country, throughout Canada and as far away as Japan. A common question I am asked is, "Who is the best you have ever competed against?" His answer to this question was that Gordon was the best that He had ever raced against. Its all about context...look into it. It's under "C" in the dictionary.

I've seen Gordon take cars that had no business finishing in the top 20 to victory lane. I've seen him take a car that was boiling over to victory lane. I've seen him take wrecked cars to victory lane. He knows how to drive a car, good or bad. He knows how to finesse a car and get the most out of it without blowing it up. Put him in a DEI car, and he still out-drives Junior. You cannot tell me it's all equipment and not driving ability. Put Junior in Hendrick car and Gordon still outdrives him..it's called driving ability. Gordon has the talent, some others don't.

Ricky Craven is a yes man for today s NASCAR, which should be renamed "NAPCAR". -Ricky supports the IDIOTIC chase format in every way, shape and form. What a douche nozzle............

Dude what race are you staring at he purely have been given exceeded! My senile previous grandmother good do a greater useful activity interpreting the race!

It was the same way when petty was racing he had the best equipment also. so you want to hold it against him no one will ever reach the 200 win total but all these drivers are great in their own right.

Yep, He is, because I think Tim Flock is a better driver than Jeff Gordon. Richard Petty is the best NASCAR driver ever.

I think it's just that Gordon is who he raced against. I did email him and gave him some crap for not even mentioning David Pearson.

Did you actually read the article? He doesnt say that Jeff Gordon is the best driver ever, but that Gordon is the best driver "he's ever seen". He was doing a comparison against all the drivers he raced against in his career. Since he never raced against Pearson, and raced against Petty only once just before he retired, neither of them were going to be his choice.
