What a very good question!!
no cigs, no alcohol, no drugs, no caffeine.....
did Joesph Smith not see the dietary laws in the old testament when he was constructing the "other" book??
since they can not have this and that...WHY are they OK to eat that which is unclean??
SINCE they claim to be of the lost tribe of Israel, etc....(hahaha) then why do they not follow the dietary laws???
the dietary laws were not nailed to the cross, for health sake a person needs to follow such today....

The word of wisdom tells us that certain things are bad for us. But we also need to use common judgment. We all know that fast food is dangerous to eat. There are many scientific studies that prove this. The church teaches that everything in moderation. It also teaches that when you prepare a meal you should consider the nutritional value of that meal. Make wholesome meals. The church isn't there to tell you, in every circumstances, what to do and not to do. It is not like that. We are taught to take care of our bodies. That is why the word of wisdom is there. But if you read Section 88 further it makes more comments about other food/habits other than what you have mentioned. Like only eating fruits and vegetable that are in season, and eating meat only when needed and sparingly. I hope this answers your question.

The no caffeine thing is a joke. I've known many a Mormon to inhale "Jolt" cola, Mountain Dew and hot chocolate. I don't know who they think they are kidding...
As for fast food; I've also known many over-weight Mormons. The Mormon family I married into is largely over-weight...
The everything in moderation ethic does not appear to alive and well so far as I can see.
Many of them do still wear their "magic underwear" though -- I had this verified to me by my in-laws. Apparently, it is an undergarment worn by both men and women. They get it when they go through the temple. It supposed to help with modesty. I'm not too sure about that one either...
To any offended LDS out there, personally, I don't really care. The guy asked a question and I answered so don't bite my head off.

The Word of Wisdom, God's law of Health, outlines the minimum standard that members should follow. There are many other bad things that we should avoid and many good things that we should consume. It is each member's responsibility to live the law to its fulness. If they fail to do that, it is their choice and will pay the price whether it be dealing with addictions, obesity or some other ailment.
I, personally, choose not to eat fast food.

Once again the Word of Wisdom is shown to be a century ahead of it's time in promoting good health. If you read the Word of Wisdom in it's entirety, you will see that it says to eat meat sparingly. It says to eat grains and other wholesome foods. I take that to mean that we should not have a burger every day. The Church leaves the meaning of 'sparingly' up to the individual, since it is a matter of degree.

Its never been said, no caffeine.
We are advised to treat our bodies with respect. A little bit of junk isnt going to kill us.
moderation is the key.
I hope you found what you were looking for by leaving the Church.

God no longer has to regulate our every movement. The Law of Moses was fulfilled and we no longer have to fit it.
The things you mentoin as being "verboten", they are addictive substances and back then no one knew that. Now a days, it's a test of which god you worship; the God of the Universe or the god of addictive substances, and you should read our scriptures to know the God we worship

26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness
