Love as the world knows it is not true love - nothing like the love from the Holy Spirit, described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

It depends if we are talking about being in love with someone or unconditional love. Both are mediated through biological processes which are similar in certain ways to processes involved in mental illness and indeed drug addiction.

Unconditional love is different from being in love. Unconditional love is about protecting something that is yours and ensuring the propagation of your genes. i.e. protecting your children.

When the chemicals involved in "being in love" are analysed they last for approximately 18 months to 5 years. Why should this be so? Well it is quite simple. For a man he has enough time to ensure that his partner is suitable for having children, then we have 9 months of pregnancy and then a couple of years to ensure the health of the child to certain age. That is the evolutionary biological explanation and should also be considered now within the context of social norms, roles, and legal aspects of society.

true love is being there for the un-nice side of love.
( i'm not talking about abuse!) but when someone is ill,
tired, fed-up with the world. then a partner can either help
solve those problems or actually protect their loved one.
that is why love is failing now. it's about me first and sex;
but never about what a true relationship is. sex is like
frosting on a cake too much really is sickening. sex is
the binding of a relationship and not the book.

It sure is. The problem with it is people fail to realize that love isn't simply an emotion, in fact the emotional love will usually dissapear within two years. Afterwards it's a work in progress, most people simply give up because it's not what they expected.

I believe it is. I met my soulmate 10 years ago; I knew he was the one pretty much from the beginning, and I know we have true love. We've been married for over nine years.

It sure is. That woman loves me like crazy, no matter how long a list of my faults I present.

It's great.
