It will be reabsorbed, but it takes about a month. There's three layers of stitches in there, and each will go down but it takes a bit of time. Within two months you'll be able to run your fingers over it and not even know where it is.

Did you bring her back to get the stitches removed? They are supposed to stick out, only a week afterwards its still pretty new, don't even get alarmed if it bleeds a little as a little more time passes on. I actually used to remove the stitches myself after 10 days.. Its fairly simple, when they are ready to come out, you can tell. It looks like a scab.
Also, 4 1/2 months is perfectly fine for a kitten to be spayed. You can do it as young as 2 months, or 2 pounds.. whichever comes first.

That's great that you had her spayed! :) She should be fine. I do a lot of cat/kitten rescue work, and have them all spayed and neutered. There is frequently a little bulge near the incision.I asked my vet about it and she said not to be concerned, it will go away in time.
But, I think it was good that you were concerned. I think any time there is an incision or surgery, you should watch your animal for changes or setbacks. And if you were to notice anything new or of concern, I would contact your vet.

I would call the vet that did the surgery and check on this. It may not be healing properly or have become infected. My cat Honey was young when I had her spayed and she jumped around and busted her stitches and I had to take her to the vet and he give her antibiotics to take. He said it wasn't uncommon for young cats to bust their stitches.

When you got her spayed did they tell you to bring her back in one week to make sure it was healing ok? Most vet offices do this. If you don't think that it is healing ok you should bring her back in for a visit.

Don't worry, it'll heal and reduce in size as she grows.
