If I have my information correct
AVG is a full blown Anti Virus Software. Where, Zone Alarm is a very extensive program that is first and Formost a Firewall, over the years they have implamented the entire Internet Security Suite that now includes the entire array of protection, including Virus Software.
Either choice is a good one.

I have ZoneAlarm Anti-virus & Firewall. Belarc Advisor scan identifies anti-virus protection on my system as AVG, version 2013, firewall as ZoneAlarm. I did not install AVG. Presumably it came with ZA installation, but other than Belarc scan, I see no other indication of AVG on my system. So, perhaps the OP's query is moot...? Also, I update ZA everyday. Should I go to AVG site to update to most current version?
