According to the Greek, an evangelist is a preacher of the gospel.
Jesus' last command was to go into all the world and preach the gospel.
If we take that literally as to all Christians, then it should mean ALL of us will be evangelists in our own way.
That doesn't mean we all must preach from the pulpit, but that we all should share our faith.
I really don't think there should be any difference in that case.

A 'Christian' is best understood as one who professes a belief in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, and who has staked his or her entire life on that belief.

The word 'evangelist' can be traced etymologically through Middle English, Old French, and Latin to the Greek word for "messenger" (aggelos.). The Greek meaning was more or less strictly retained for the word "angel" but "evangel" came to denote the content of the message, that is, "good news" or "gospel". An evangelist is a Christian spreading the message of the 'good news' of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Of course you can tell that Christians are not the only evangelists by a lot of the responses to this question!

I'm not sure whether you mean Evangelist or Evangelical. An evangelist is a person who proclaims Christ (like a minister or lay speaker.) Billy Graham is an evangelist. An evangelical is a christian who is strongly committed to sharing their faith in a personal way with people they meet in the normal course of their life. Many, though not all, evangelicals are also charismatic. Most evangelical churches have very contemporary services. Most charismatic churches also have contemporary services but may also include elements that seem pretty unusual for a Catholic. Charismatics often include speaking in tongues, healing services, and a variety of other things. One group even handles snakes in their service. It's pretty hard to characterize a church or a person as evangelical or charismatic on the basis of a single element of their service. There are, btw, charismatic and evangelical Catholics. Do a google search and you wil see.

All Christians should be evangelists in the proper sense of the word. We are all commanded by Christ to preach the Gospel to all nations. We all have differing gifts - how we spread the Good News can take many forms.

A Christian is a follower of Christ.

An Evangelist believes in spreading the good news to others, as Christ asked his disciples to.
To a Christian Evanglelist, that means telling people Christ died for their sins, that everyone can accept that sacrifice for their sins and go to heaven.

However, Atheists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Muslims, Mormons, etc. are even more evangleistic than Christians are.

A christain is supposedly to be Christ like...in the way one lives. But the apt definition to describe what we see by and large is;

A evangelist is primarily an opportunist who seldom practices what he preaches.
A christian is a hypocrite.....who believes his ticket to heaven is already reserved.

There are some great exceptions of both Christians & Evangelist but their numbers are dwindling.

All evangelists are Christians, but not all Christians are evangelists.

Christians believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Evangelists are Christians who preach the gospel.

What is an evangelist? That’s a good question, because you might be one. And if you are called (even if it was long ago) to such a function in the Body of Christ, surely you want to fulfill that calling and maximize your potential for the one who fulfilled his calling and died for you. Our risen Lord Jesus was the Evangelist, as he was the Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, and Teacher, that is, he vividly exemplified each of these functions, and that is why he is now most capable of “diversifying himself” by mentoring believers like you in carrying them out.
