"Trial version of Vista"??? Hmmm...

Just re-install your "(Trial version of) XP".

Back up all personal data from your PC. Then, do a store-bought Windows XP "Clean Install", for further instructions, go to:

And, just in case, here's the "store-bought Vista to store-bought XP" Step By Step from Microsoft:

I don't believe Microsoft included a roll back feature with the trail Vista. Even if they did it is highly unlikely that the roll back will remove every trace of Vista.

If you did not make an image of your drive before you installed Vista over top of it, then save your data to a different hard drive and reinstall your XP OS.

You should get a boot menu when you start your computer, allowing you to select Vista or XP. If for some reason this isn't there, just boot from your original Windows XP media. The Windows XP set-up process with then run, re-installing XP.

I can't say I blame you for wanting to go back to XP!

You will need your original XP installation disk to reinstall XP.
