I like that you trust is shows great character. My husband about ten yrs before we met had no insurance and had pneumonia he was at the between jobs and was unable to stay in the hospital for the necessary treatment. A man out of nowhere came up to his nurse and told them that he would pay his bill and they admitted him. He has never done drugs and has never drank. That man saved my husbands life, and I thank him.

Assalam,
ur advice has something wrong in it ( not trying to be rude ) , because he wants to give it to the building, its okay, even though the people who u donated to use it in a bad way , the money u donated will stay in thier throats till the Day of Judgement. cuz they ate blood money. ur friend will have done what he had to do, he doesnt get punished for it . he will have the same deeds. but , what u adviced him is okay, plus these ill people r supposed to get it first , cuz the person who is building the worshipping place of course will have money, unless he needs money to complete the worship place u could give it.
Wassalm.

Did u also know that when you sign up to 'oxfam' for example after being stopped by those clip board people they actually get the first 3 direct debits. Naughty Naughty!
Never give away ur cash unless you can be sure as to where it's going!

Instead of offering a monetary gift to any cause, perhaps your friend should instead buy supplies needed and offer them instead.I'm not sure of your neighborhood but homeless shelters and food pantries are always in need of blankets, coats, pillows, non-perishable foods, some churches accept these items as well for those in need. This way he knows that what he is giving is being used for good, rather than going in someones pocket. That is very generous.

A strong believer in WHAT? I think you should have advised him to pray about it and seek His wisdom on what to do with the money. Since your friend will have to answer for it!!!
How do you tell a genuinely poor person from a ungenuinely rich person in a hospital? They are all wearing gowns. They all have the same crappy food to eat, the same beds, etc.
I think your idea was altruistic, but very poorly planned. Hospitals constantly have clever accounting practices to funnel money to places it was not intended. Their billing practices are quite eye opening!!! A $6 aspirin!!! An $18 pillow case!!! You'll be amazed at the itemized bill...

Directly helping the needy in a practical way is never wrong.
Your advice was reasonable although there is a chance that the money might be misused.

Well, not being 100% sure isn't a reason to avoid it. It is a good idea to "shop around" to find a charity that is reputed to do good works, but I would have placed the priority on spreading God's word over helping a poor person (who may or may not have state funded insurance) pay a bill that. It's not like the hospital could repo the services. They are obligated to help the sick.
But this is just my opinion. I may not have donated to a building being built, but would have found something to do with spreading God's word. Actually a charity I favor is Compassion. Great reputation!

No matter where the money went if you did it for God, then the one that spent the money wrong would be held accountable..i would have gave the money . God would know my intentions and let happen what happen to the money and know God would be happy with me for what Ive done and condemn them for what they did if they spent the money inappropriately..

It seems like this is catch 22 situation. a lot of people claim to be servants of God, bt in fact their crooks and are in it for the money, the church business. if God has led u to advice your friend as you have then it is right to help the one in hospital. if that church is really for God then God will surely send another person to contribute no harm done.

Why would you counsel someone away from supporting a house of God? There are no 100% in anything in this fallen world, not even in giving money to be used properly to buy medicine, but ministries only get their finances from the freewill offerings of people. Anytime someone wants to actually contribute to a cause of God, I would think you should rejoice and say "Amen."
