Prescription drugs are different from herbal remedies or other alternative medical treatments in that they've gone through structured clinical trials (and not just a few) to show scientific evidence of effectiveness. There's nothing like a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to give evidence of effectiveness. If belief is more compelling to you than evidence, then it doesn't matter.

Most of the people I run into would rather kill the little germs that infest the human body and make it sick with good ol Penicillin but along with herbs comes a whole other method of healing so if it's come to this question there's hope for us all right?

I mean really... when was the last time somebody mentioned in passing they went to the herb store took some and got rid of that sharp stabbing pain somewhere between their belly-button and and their anterior superior iliac spine?

My point is this if you can fix it with a plant that's been around since the ice-age why not as opposed to something that's made out of petroleum and costs a fortune however that may be the point after all.

It depends on the disease and the person being treated. For example, serious psychiatric illnesses like schizophrenia and clinical depression would be best treated with prescription drugs since they are targeted towards regulating levels of neurotransmitters in the blood.

I'm Asian and can say that one can be better than the other depending on the case. Herbal medicines are more powerful than people think. They can raise your immunity, boost metabolism, and calm your nerves without the side effects of Western medicine. Accupuncture can also work wonders. I was a skeptic until I tried it recently. I'm currently visiting an Asian country and am undergoing herbal treatments (accupuncture and medicine) for long term depression, anxiety, and mood swings. Compared to the 17 years of traditional prescription drugs, I'm starting to feel much better after 1 month of daily visits to the herbal doctor.

Prescription drugs are a terrible mix of " I have more problems than before I took this crap". ei. all the side effects and dangers of taking the drugs.

Chineese herbal remidies are however time tested sometimes for centuries and usually more cost effective. One other benifiet is that you generaly know what it is you are taking if you purchase from reputible source.

However if you are an American or living in America what you'll get is Lead Poisoning!

The choice is yours, You make the call.

It completely depends on the ailment, the method of prescription and the frequency of usage! Some are effective, others are totally ineffective. Most drugs start off in an herbal form and then are enhanced by chemicals. So, both can be effective and have both good and terrible side effects.

I would say prescription drugs are more effective. Herbal medicine is usually used for curing small illnesses or getting rid of something. Like aloe vera is good for the skin.

It depends on what you're trying to treat. Most medications have their origin in herbs. Many are synthetic derivatives of herbs.
