All asking is prayer, imo, whether it is conscious or not, and that includes a lot. Prayer which includes a lot of detail, backed with emotion and which is then let go of, shows quicker manifestation. I say let go, like in let go and let God, because all negative emotions are resistance to what is prayed for. Appreciation is useful because it eliminates negative emotions, negative thoughts, and therefore allows the creative energy flow to circulate freely.

Prayer causes a connection between the servant and the True One, because in that state a person with all heart and soul turns his face towards His Highness the Almighty, seeking His association and desiring His love and compassion. The greatest happiness for a lover is to converse with her beloved, and the greatest gift for a seeker is to become familiar with the object of her longing; that is why with every soul who is attracted to the Kingdom of God, her greatest hope is to find an opportunity to entreat and supplicate before her Beloved, appeal for His mercy and grace and be immersed in the ocean of His utterance, goodness and generosity.

Besides all this, prayer and fasting is the cause of awakening and mindfulness and conducive to protection and preservation from tests.

A prayer is a peaceful moment with God, wherein you share the moments of the day...it is a time to thank and ask for God's providence.

Prayer belongs to worship(reverence).

If you want to discuss it properly, you must seperate prayer from petition because most of what people call prayer is a petiton which does not belong to prayer.

Prayer is the unfolding of oneself at the feet of His Creator in recognition of His authority over him and His creation. The willingness to learn and to submit to His Will.

PRAYER is our way of communicating with God. It's just like a telephone line between God and us that carries our messages to the other receiver...which is God, Himself.

For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy
