Thank you Mal for putting it so articulately and eloquently;- There is so much evidence against the Armenian Genocide allegation that is suppressed from reputable NON TURKISH historians it's not funny I attach for your information some sources and material which categorically states that it was not a genocide and can not be compared to the Jewish Holocaust and I quote;-

Further a letter written by a former Australian Ambassador to the Australian Newspaper back in 1994 and I quote;-
Mr. George Karagiannakis's letter (2/6/94), making all sorts of incredible allegations against Turkey in regard to its domestic and foreign policies, should not be allowed to go unanswered.
It is not possible in the space of a few lines to answer all of his allegations. However, in fairness to the truth, the following points must be made:
The 'facts beyond credible dispute' to which he alludes are in fact based largely on fictions to justify unrealistic ambitions or failures in the past to achieve totally unrealistic goals.
Whilst it is true and sad that many Armenians lost their lives in their own bid for territory, what is not recognized is that the Armenians themselves inflicted as much damage as others in the hostilities of that time, goaded on by some Western powers for their own selfish and geopolitical objectives.
The Turks had no deliberate policy of genocide at any stage, only the removal of Armenians from the front line with Russia, where they were collaborating with the Ottoman Empire's enemies and were thus a threat to its security.
The Kurdish issue is more complex. Two points are relevant:
The PKK, like IRA, is a terrorist organization, SUPPORTED MATERIALLY BY THE GREEKS AND ARMENIANS, with the stated objective of destabilizing Turkey. It has so far assassinated over 10,000 people in Turkey. It has no justifiable claim to represent the Kurdish people.
Most Kurds are integrated into Turkish society. About one-third of the Turkish Parliament is of Kurdish origin. This illustrates the absence of discrimination.
As for Cyprus, if any genocide or ethnic cleansing has taken place, this has always been carried out by the Greeks. The abortive coup of 1974, organized by EOKA and Greek colonels, aimed at elimination of the Turkish Cypriots from the Island. Turkey intervened to protect them and prevent Enosis. Since that date, the island has been peaceful and free of bloodshed.
Turkey has consistently supported a fair and reasonable settlement on Cyprus, but one that gives the Turkish Cypriots a secure future and equal political and social status with the Greek Cypriots.
The real problem between Greece and Turkey is Greece's reluctance to give up its Megali idea, that is, the recovery of the territories occupied by the Byzantine Empire, which finally fell to the Turks in 1453. All the many conflicts between Greece and Turkey over the past two centuries have been initiated by Greece. Your correspondent's reference to bloodied Turkish history is therefore clearly wrong, except in the fact that in the past three Greek-initiated conflicts, the Turks gave the Greeks a severe hiding, which partly accounts for the large fall in numbers of Greeks in present-day Turkey.
Regarding persecution. the Ottomans had one of the most tolerant policies towards non-Turks of any empire of its day. The three communities of Jews, Greeks and Armenians were virtually autonomous within the empire.

thank you for complimenting Turks as dogs. dogs are smart animals and don't hate rather anyone. dogs love human beings, and different animals too. although, in case you harm them, they could bite you. could you prefer to evaluate why Turks killed (no longer genocide) Armenians for the period of WW I? might desire to or no longer this is that those Ottoman citizen Armenians allied with the invading Russian military and killed 1000's of harmless Turkish women human beings and little ones? enable us to be trouble-free and attempt to comprehend what rather got here approximately in those years. How approximately looking into the expert archives of the era? The Turkish government of right this moment has opened the archives for Armenian academicians to benefit. Can the Armenian government do the comparable? What with regard to the records of cutting-edge events in Karabagh? Do you have any thought or awareness of what share Azerbaijani Turks have been killed and/or lost by potential of the Armenian military? enable us to attempt to comprehend and forgive. enable us to physique of innovations matters with out prejudice and bias. enable us to talk, no longer insult or blame. you notice, once you element one finger to blame the different, 3 of your arms element at you on the comparable time.

Turkish 'Genocide' Bill Loses House Support
BY DAVİD ROGERS
16.10.2007
WASHINGTON -- Pressed by the White House and Turkish lobby, as many as 11 House members have withdrawn as co-sponsors of a resolution labeling the mass killings of Armenians under the Ottoman Empire a century ago as "genocide."
Seven members pulled their names from the measure Monday and four more as of Tuesday, leaving passage of the bill in doubt. The rapid erosion signals momentum has shifted in favor of Turkey and the Bush administration, which has urged the Democratic leadership to block a vote on the resolution, reported from the House Foreign Affairs Committee last week.

First of all, There was not a Country called Turkey at that time. It was an ottoman empire which was last 700 years. Many people lived under the empire within good conditions. They were happy. When war began Armenians take a part with Russian and be their spies in Turkey. They were against to Turks and killed many Turks too.I think Russia promised them their own land after the war therefore they did it to Turks. And Turks first started to fight with their enemies inside in their country. Turks accept people killed in both part. Turks were also killed too. It was a war and Turks killed their "inside" enemies first rather than other countries in the war. It was a war and it is what it spouse to be.
Would you fight against the other enemies when you have some in your country? Of course not. it is like "cleaning your door first". Many people killed and killed. But it was not all Armenians. It was their mistake when being against to country where they have lived. They are treacherous people. They made a big mistake and not accepting results? What would you do to your treacherous enemies? Would you help them after the war to deliver them somewhere else to live? Ottomans lost the war and they had their problems to solve rather that helping Armenians to leave the country in safe condition. Many historians says there were diseases and that’s why many people in both sides died after the war.
There were also other political movements against the Ottoman Empire. I feel sorry for both people but it was A WAR not a normal day. I dont understand how people call it genocide. it was WAR where someone won and someone lost. Turks give their web links Armenian give theirs. Do you think they are impartial websites. We should listen the historian people. The net has all kind of information and you can believe anything you read but there is only one true. Turks are not stupid to accept something that their grandfathers didn’t do. As many people say The Armenians have Russia to stand behind them and Turkish people have us (United States). for now. It is bigger than you think when you search Russia and US history .It is not only Armenia or Turkey. Russia used Armenians against to Ottomans and now uses Armenians against to US? Dont be stupid, This Armenians played o big role on decadence of Ottoman Empire. Be aware people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pelosi will reap what Pelosi sowed.
Even if the resolution is dropped (or whatever legal term is used to express that), the Turkish public will remember what Pelosi tried to do. And they will make life hell for any Turkish government being friendly to a government that includes Pelosi.
Pelosi may take her grievances to the 3 million (Russian friendly) Armenians, if she likes.
Edit: Çetin, I copied this from the favorite source of trolls: wikipedia:
"Due to its position between two unfriendly neighbors, Armenia has close security ties with Russia. At the REQUEST of the Armenian government, Russia maintains a military base in the northwestern Armenian city of Gyumri as a deterrent against Turkey. Despite this, Armenia has also been looking toward Euro-Atlantic structures in recent years. It maintains good relations with the United States especially through its Armenian diaspora. According to the 2000 US census, there are 385,488 Armenians living in the country."
See? Armenia has Russian military base and plays the diaspora-vote card with USA. In my opinion, military base trumps all else.

Exactly. The whole situation is ridiculous and there are better things to take care if in the government other then a non-existent genocide.
