Germany was breaking the rules set out after World War I and had treaties with other countries to slowly conquer Europe and Asia. These powers were known as the Axis powers and consisted of Germany, Japan, USSR, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovak Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Thailand, Finland, and Iraq. Other countries tried diplomacy that failed and eventually the United Kingdom and some allies declared war on Germany but would not make the first strike. They were known as the Allied powers and originally consisted of the United Kingdom, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Poland, and South Africa. It later added everybody the Axis powers attacked including Belgium, China, Denmark, Greece, Norway, USA, USSR, and Yugoslavia. Eventually virtually the whole world except a handful of countries including Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland joined the Allied powers. Japan started hostilities by attacking Manchuria in September of 1931 and China in July of 1937. Germany's military buildup began in 1933 and Poland was invaded on 9/1/1939. For the USA, WW II is dated from Pearl Harbor 12/7/1941 - Armistice on 9/2/1945.

I will explain it to u anyway. And the people who comment rudely here...I have nothing to say. They had to ask too, so now they know. Don't bother, but everyone should know about the second world war. And I think u deserve to know.
It was the biggest war in the ENTIRE history of wars. I won't go in detail, but it started when a guy called Adolf Hitler(he was German) got a crazy idea: He wanted to rule the world. He thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to start with Poland, so he attacked it as soon as he could. He had no heart and his desire was so strong, he could never stop. One man, so much damage.
It included the military force of the WHOLE world. Europe, Pacific, South-East Asia, Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa, they all fought against one of the biggest forces ever: Germany. There r many more details about this fight. U will never need them.
Second world war is always remembered by it's cruelty. More than 70 million dead make this war the deadliest one in history. One of the most important things in the whole war was the Auschwitz. In Germany, ruled by Hitler, the Auschwitz was the most horrible place to be. I know a person whose mother was in it.
Auschwitz...I shake whenever I get the slightest thoughts about it. It was like a camp, a death camp. Hitler trapped people in it, torturing them to death. I can give u the exact description, it is very important to know about Auschwitz... There was a big fireplace, where whenever someone wanted to make a fire, got burnt. They(Hitler's "colleagues") said they wanted to measure how tall someone is, took the measurement thing, and then someone came from the side and cut their head off. Also, to mention, starving was also one of the most common ways to die. But the most common one was this one: They gathered like 400 of people and told them they were going to let them have a bath. They took them into this big room, closed the door, and then let deadly gas fill the room...So they starved people. Burnt them alive. Dismembered them.
This was the worst war ever. In the history of human kind.

World War II or the Second World War, often abbreviated as WWII or WW2, was a worldwide military conflict; the amalgamation of two separate conflicts, one beginning in Asia, 1937, as the Second Sino-Japanese War and the other beginning in Europe, 1939, with the invasion of Poland. It is regarded as the historical successor to World War I.
This global conflict split a majority of the world's nations into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. Spanning much of the globe, World War II resulted in the deaths of over 70 million people, making it the deadliest conflict in human history.
World War II was the most widespread war in history, and countries involved mobilized more than 100 million military personnel. Total war erased the distinction between civil and military resources and saw the complete activation of a nation's economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities for the purposes of the war effort; nearly two-thirds of those killed in the war were civilians. For example, nearly 11 million of the civilian casualties were victims of the Holocaust, which was largely conducted in Eastern Europe, and the Soviet Union.
The conflict ended in an Allied victory. As a result, the United States and Soviet Union emerged as the world's two leading superpowers, setting the stage for the Cold War for the next 45 years. Self determination gave rise to decolonization/independence movements in Asia and Africa, while Europe itself began traveling the road leading to integration.

The second world war was when:
Hitler was being very naughty and killing millions *billions* of Jews
Japan and America were having a very bad war
The whole world also joined in, even though they didn't actually know what was going on.
The world was just a big confusion
Hence the name, WWII
Got it?
Good
If you don't, look it up. Everyone knows about it.
