Round about 13 years ago when I was learning archeology I read some where that the Army corps of engineers had Archeologists assigned to them or had a unit of Archeologists.

I am wondering if this is still true and if so if the position is/was a civilian or a military one.

I am also wondering if any one has more information about the “Human Terrain System” and what qualifications are necessary to participate (i.e. is it standard Military requirements , or do they make exceptions for civilians).

I found a number of sites breaking down the principles behind the project but nothing about the entry requirements, but any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

Currently over here in Iraq the military is seeking qualified anthropologists and a few other social science disciplines to create additional HTS units...and they are civilians but have to qualify physically and with a weapon.

Sorry, I have no information regarding archaeologists currently working over here.

Archeologists are regular military soldiers to study the terrain of enemy countries like Iraq.
