No. they should be excommunicated. I know women in the church who have been excommunicated for way less than that. They protect these men and punish women whose husbands deserted them and they remarried so they got excommunicated. But child raping priests are coddled and catered to.

I'm okay with them being reassigned to cloistered communities where they have no contact with the outside world. They can live with other priests, help take care of the elderly ones, garden, pray, wash dishes, cook, clean, etc.
But sending them back to pastoring a church or teaching in a school/seminary or anything like that? No way.
