Adam couldn't hide from Him, that's kind of the lesson there. Adam THOUGHT he was hiding, just like children hide from their parents. Even though the parents know where their child is, they play along. More appropriately, how often does a mom know her son has done something wrong, but doesn't come right out and say "I know what you did!" but rather makes the son confess to it first, by asking a series of questions about things that lead the son to telling the story. It shows that we THINK we can hide from God... and sometimes God will even LET us think we can hide from Him, but ultimately, we'll have to tell the truth.

Repeatedly in the old testament, god is referred to as being in the form of a man. I think it was a 'man' pretending to be a god personally (I'm into the 'were they aliens or a more advanced human culture?' view of things in the OT). That might explain how the Adama managed to hide for a while.

He was kicked out of the garden after eating the fruit of knowledge, because God didn't want to risk him eating the fruit of the tree of life as well, and becoming immortal..

Yes God is omnipresent and omni scient. But God is omnipotent too.So God created satans besides humans.God gives us free will and free choice.Satans will always tempt to humans.God needs satans for testing humans whether they have strong or weak faith.Adam and Eve had a weak faith so they could be easily tempted by satan..God did not hide from Adam and Eve.in the garden of Eden.

They (Adam and Eve) hid themselves from the physical presence of God who was strolling though the garden. God asked Adam where he was. Adam said he was hiding out of shame.

Maybe God had allowed them freedom from always being in His sight. It is not as if God did not know they were hiding.

For the record. Adam attempted to hide from God but God found Adam. Why? Because Adam was naked (nude). God made Adam & Eve nude and prior to eating of the tree of the knowledge of both, "good & evil" both, Adam & Eve never had any shame due to their nudity. God knew by Adam's answer to him regarding his naked state, that he [Adam & Eve] had neglected to listen to instructions. Adam's reaction by hiding from God, illustrates why humans don't want anything to do with God until they require a "hand' ! God knows when He is not wanted and obliges us !

God is the Spirit. the spirit pervades the whole experience of the universe including its perceiver. when you consider yourself as physical body the universe and your belief of god and all religious myth seems to be true.
To know your whole experience of universe perceived by you as illusion you must find out your true self is not the physical body but the formless non dual spirit.
On the standpoint of the spirit the the universe and its perceiver is mere illusion. Therefore the substance and witness of the whole experience is not you as a person but the spirit. Thus the spirit pervades the whole experience as its substance and witness.

He didn't duh! God came to him, so obviously God knew where he was. Adam and Eve were trying to hide because they ate from the tree of life, and knew what good and evil was. Than they went to go hide behind something maybe, because they were ashamed. Just like some people don't go to nude beaches because they don't want to be exposed in front of everyone. Just because they TRIED to hide doesn't mean it was possible for them to be successful of it. Don't listen to those other answers, they have no clue.

Read the Bible properly.Do you think God being so ominipotent did not know where Adam and Eve were?He knew it but he was was testing them and their reactions as he gave them the free will. What happened finaly Adam blamed eve and she blamed satan for hiding from God.
Not God did not know but SIN entered the world.

I think that you should consider a new possibility to how this passage was meant to be read. I don't think that they meant that Adam ACTUALLY hid from God but the point that the Bible is trying to get at is that Adam was hiding period. Of course you can't hide from God but it was the act of hiding itself that is important. However, please remember this is the Bible and it is YOUR interpretation that makes it important to YOU. If you believe Adam was successful for a time, then by all means that is what you believe and you should stick to that.
