to our wild nature.

Let me clear my concept of intelligence and wisdom,

intelligence = to get max. output through min. input by any means possible.

Wisdom = to get optimum amount of valued output through reasonable input by best suitable/proper means.

please comment wisely.

I believe hijab/veil is not only necessary for women also for men by lowering their gazes down.

By adding certain limitations and perimeters to our resources, properties and qualities, we put ourself in some frame of reference, that gives diferent shades and tones on good or bad, right or wrong.
In this way we turn a forest into a garden and science into a religion.

Brother Adil K,
A criminal, thief or a robber can be intelligent but not wise.
Wisdom adds the element of right or wrong in our acts.

Hi Muhammad Ishfaq A
You have got wonderful answers over here, I got a point from your argument of wisdom and intelligence, that Atheists are intelligent but not wise, and When my mom cooks food in a bowl, she covers it when and how much is required according to the nature of food to be cooked, so my mom is also wise.

Firstly, some women enjoy hijab since they are free of overly self-conscious anxieties of many Western women. Such as being leared at, mentally stripped, objectified or bulimia and anorexia.

That aside, whilst the hijab may be extreme, I personally consider modesty a beautiful thing. A beautiful place is Malaysia, which is the combination of Muslim and South East Asian values. Men wear caps, long skirts (sarong) and light long sleeve shirts. Women wears beautiful flowered double skirted figure hugging busty dresses and a gentle scarf over their heads. In dressing like this, the women look beautiful, radiant and very feminine. However definity not "sexed up". The "heart beauty" of a woman manifests. They look maternal. The goddess shines in their faces.

That also aside, whilst it does not appeal to me, woman dressing exposing flesh or very sexy, is wonderful for wisdom and intelligence. In fact, how people wish themselves to be is always the greatest wisdom.

This is because wisdom and intelligence should be able to clearly, readily and immediately comprehend what brings the truest happiness and benefit for human beings, which is not sexual promiscuity or adventure but commitment, care and protection.

I spend a lot of time at the beach exercising, running and swimming. I see bikini, topless and naked women. However, I am fully aware in my heart and mind what is most beneficial for human beings, for both myself and others.

This is what nurtures wisdom.

If one requires women to wear hijab to be able to control oneself then one has little wisdom.

With respects, I think this is one of the great flaws of some Islamic reasoning, placing the responsibility upon women to control sexual behaviour and considering a man to have inherent weakness.

In classic matriarchial cultures like Bali or Thailand, the village women are often topless in public. However, they are rigidly moral. The role of women and motherhood is comprehended and ethical, appropriate, grateful and beneficial behaviour arises from that wisdom.

I think it does. I don't wear the Abaya and Niqab as I don't have any money to buy them but hopefully soon with ALLAH's(SWT) help I'll be able to fully cover. I do wear hijab and feel that it gives me more respect even if the non Muslims don't see it that way and I also think that my husband appreciates me more for wearing hijab because he knows I'm modest and am not trying to show off for strangers. I think it helps me concentrate better on what I am suppossed to do as a Muslim wife and hopefully in the future as a Muslim mother and helps me remember ALLAH(SWT) more often then when I don't wear it.

Wow! it rather is quite inspiring! i'm a Catholic too, yet i'm 14 years previous, so a chapel cover could look rather awkward on me. in case you sense uncomfortable, you're able to see in case your church or yet another on your area has a tridentine mass. this is the unique mass interior the Latin kind, and the pinnacle overlaying is needed (there's a gown code additionally, although this is barely issues like no denims, and so on.) i think of that the tridentine mass could be rather stable for you! in case you ever have a gamble, seem on the internet web site for the Sisters of Mary, mom of the Eucharist. they seem to be a sparkling order and are impressive!

Why do women need protecting from men by covering up? Why aren't men protected from the gazes of women. Why don't men wear thehijab?
EDIT Sorry still need info why is it only women who cover up as we have wild nature too!
Majeed32 so am i allowed to gaze at men. Who protects them from the gazes of women. Why is it so onesided who decided women need protecting? I don't I look after myself, I am an adult. If it is to do with sex why are men deemed so lustful that the sight of female flesh drives them crazy? Where is self control why must women cover up to protect men from their wild nature. Just exercise self control. Have I indeed understood the argument?

To Garwy - Did any Muslim women with Hijab ever tell you that she feels she becomes attractive with Hijab or your mind just created your statement?

Jill - Hijab wearing women are not hiding from the law. They hide from the lusty eyes of woolf like men and they obey God because God has instructed Muslim women to cover themselves when they go out of home. Most men even non-Muslims show respect for them and don't use bad language in presence of a woman with Hijab nearby because God blesses these women with this protection.

Stan - U say it makes them look in weirdos dresseded like 6th century desert nomads.
Yes - They are proud to look like the daughters of their Prophet Mohammad and obedient to God. Because Quran is for guidance of mankind for all times to come.

Elizabeth L - God commands men in Quran to keep their Gaze down when a woman is walking in street. If they keep gazing at a woman, they commit minor sin but usually do not attempt to talk to hijabi women because of bareer of Hijab. God protects women with Hijab from men.

For a Muslim woman, her modest dress is an expression of a universal sisterhood. An Islamic dress also liberates the Muslim woman, and she is then automatically respected for her mind instead of her body. Simply put, she retains her dignity! It is like saying: I am a respectful woman. I am not for every man to ogle at. I am protected, exactly like a precious white pearl.

THE RIGHT OF A MUSLIM WOMAN IS TO BE RESPECTED FOR HER MIND AND FOR BEING HER OWN PERSON.

so her hands were rushed to cover her half covered (what you call em,boobs)
i noticed that so i rushed to take my eyes away to window,i appeared fool,so again i looked at her in the eye for a bit
then lowered my eyes so her hands rushed to cover
