greetings. cannot be made into historic treasures since the government is afraid of Americans having them. Which is why American former military weapons are given away to foreign countries rather then being sold to Americans. You can go out now and buy Russian military rifles for under a hundred dollars each on the open market. but a American Garand? only those that managed to get through into the market before the government gave them away exist here. Though if you actually want one, you can get Garands, Carbines and Springfield rifles from the Government Civilian marksmanship program. I understand a parts Garand, one made up of surplus replacement parts, basically a worn out weapon simply repaired and not rebuilt by the arsenal as Russian weapons offered are, will run about $600. And you can get a legal Curio and Antique gun collectors license so you can buy such things legally through the mail as long as they are over 50 years old and have historical significance. Contact the BATFE Bureau of Alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives office near you. in the phone book usually.

You would be surprised how many people collect these 2 rifles that you mention. I have been trying to get my hand on a M1 garand for several years now with out paying $3000.00 for it. Which is nearly imposable in perfect condition.

Make special arrangements with the government for the transport of the rifles for historical purposes.

You can legally buy them in the US. I have both of them along with several other WWII weapons from both the Allies and Axis.

Buy one in good condition, take care of it, pass it on when you get old to someone who will take care of it as you did.
