Is the meaning of your question IF SOMEONE IS in AN IMMIGRATION DETENTION CENTRE, CAN HE OR SHE PRETEND TO BE KILLING HIMSELF/HERSELF WITH A HUNGER STRIKE, KNOWING FULL WELL THAT DEATH WILL BE PREVENTED?

Whenever anyone is in government custody, the officials have a responsibility for the safety of the detained person--be it an axe-murderer on death row in a federal prison, or a drunk detained overnight for his or her own safety.

If the guards saw a guy trying to hang himself, they would have a duty to cut him down. If they saw a guy trying to starve himself to death, they have a duty to save him from death.

Because the detention center is unregulated, the person could die. It is very dangerous to decide to go hungry when the only ones who know what you are doing are your cell mates. There aren't that many guards on staff, and many do not speak Spanish in some States.

The irony of the full concern is that the tension-feeding comes out of a ethical accountability to no longer enable the prisoner die. tension-feeding is torture, no count the "ethical" justification. If all and sundry became into rather in touch with regard to the shortcoming of nutrition and energy necessary to take care of human life, they could tension-feed by potential of potential of an intravenous nutrient answer, no longer pumping gruel down somebody's throat.

Hope not. There's hungry kids all over this country who could benefit more from the food rather than an idiot who refuses to follow our laws or even try to learn english.

Probably not. Chances are they won't starve to death before they are deported. I would think having them too weak to sneak back over the border is plus.
