there is abuse in all churches, the catholic church just makes the news because so many other "christian churches" have been jealous of the catholics since the others came into being. it is upsetting that the catholics were there first and that they are so rich. look at all the gold and land control by the catholic churches. people make a big deal because there is money to be made suing. why would you sue some little poor church?

My answer might be off topic, One must ask but buy who's law do the answer too, being that the payout is not an admission of guilt, but just as it sounds a payout. And why with all the media Sparkle(ie....BS) about justice, right and wrong morality and good living practices they preach to us on a daily bases and the real injustices in this world are a payoff and all it is to them is a quick 2 mins on the 2:00am spot, morality is the issue here and the world is on trial now, Imagine if WW2 ended in1944 and all Nazi Germany did for holocaust survivors was to pay them out with $2000 or even $200'000 ma bey millions a piece, would that practice be even condoned or accepted.
Sadly the truth is to take the one's or that of manys case of absolute Injustice to the highest court and to have blind lady justice decide,,,,,,, well it would have taken more than $660 million dollars and many, many more years to have that righteous lady that is now so shrouded in darkness, and doubtfully she would ever get to even weight the facts before her. People say the is no justice in this great good world that we all share
but there is, even thought she is not among us now it is up to us to hold up the highest standards of justice, not just to our friends and family but to all that breath and live within this earth.
Justice is not dead, not for anyone of any color, nor religion, nor language, nor belief. she is blind yes. But she has been lead into darkness caged, and only we as a people that are united can we free her.

The individual members realize this is a huge test of faith. We simply must persevere in our faith to the end, as Paul said to us.
We know that the Church, as an institution established by Jesus Christ, is perfect and infallible. However, there have been times in its history that sinful men doing sinful things achieved high positions within. But, they eventually are purged from their positions and the Church continues.

obligation? to the financial 'bottom line' and to hoping that if they just keep it 'hushed up', it'll all go away...they're even closing convents in SoCal to put the properties on the real estate market-and have imposed gag orders on the nuns in an attempt to keep them quiet about how they're being punished for the sins of some perverts...

They can restore faith by actively going after priests who commit misdeeds - NOT protecting them.

the Catholic Church is a business and like all businesses they are interested in the bottom line and nothing else regardless of what they say - Actions always speak louder than words
