I have very eccentric beliefs when it comes to science and god. most people who believe in god don't believe in the theory of evolution. and most people who do believe in this theory do not believe in god. The believers have nothing to back them up really, and the evolutionist have proof but holes here and there that cant be filled. The way I see, to think that the universe and this life started from nothing but a huge explosion, this unfathomably complex life was just an accident is absurd. However, to deny evidence of evolution simply because the bible says so is irrational.
so my question is this:
why cant both be the reason why we exist?
lets say that god created the FOUNDATIONS for life and from it did we evolve. Like he gave us the chance to be. is this not a rational explanation too?
is there anyone else out there that feels the same or even compelled by the idea?
let me know

also my feelings about the bible are that it has been changed so many times throughout history to suite the morals of different cultures that I feel that though the book itself which was created for god and so is holy cannot be taken seriously word for word. the message has been misconstrued due to different societies interpretation of it. In other words the bible of today is no were near the same of the original

If people came from apes, why there are still monkeys? If people evolved from apes, do they came out as human adults or babies? I think the evidence are bias, one can found something and just label it according to what s/he believes. I believe in Gods evolution, but not the Atheist's Theory of Evolution.

I think that God most definetly works thru scientific principles. I dont think that the discovery of technology or learning more and more about how our physical bodies work lessens God in any way. If anything I think it helps answer people when they say how can what you claim God does can ever be possible. People use to claim a virgin birth was impossible, but we can do it right now thru artificial ensemination. Knowing how a miracle scientifically happens doesnt mean God didnt direct the miracle to occur. Knowing more about our physical world around us doesnt in any way take away from the possibility of a God.
Having said that, I still see no reason to buy into the theory of evolution at this point. There are some HUGE flaws to the theory that one species evolved into another. Adaptation within a species is beyond proven and I have no issue with that. Evolution between species just doesnt have the proof behind it.

There are already plenty of people who personally believe in God but also accept what science has to say. You're far from being eccentric.
>>The way I see, to think that the universe and this
>>life started from nothing but a huge explosion, this
>>unfathomably complex life was just an accident is
>>absurd.
Funny that it's only creationists who claim that science says these things. The Big Bang was not "an explosion", and abiogenesis and evolution are far from being "just an accident".

No the existence does not seem innate. That is intuition permitted to run wild, without any grounding in reality. Yes, science can easily disprove a god. The simplest is E=mc^2 and Noether's Theorem. If a God existed prior to the start of the universe, then it either exists outside the universe or in the universe. If it is outside it can never enter, if it is inside (even in a "higher dimension") then it must die due to the second law of thermodynamics. If the god is outside it is certain that it cannot interact with anything inside, the world would look very different if anything could. If the god was inside, entropy guarantees death and physical identification. Such a god could easily be detected. If you have a working GPS then you cannot have a god because the science required for a GPS to work is mutually exclusive to the existence of a god. Now a modified deist god could exist, but would be irrelevant since that god could never have affected anything that happened once the universe began and anything it did prior to that would be washed out in the initial state of maximal entropy for the size of the universe. Present a single piece of evidence for a god, other than people feel there must be one. If the universe had a god, even a hidden god, then it could be detected, especially given the high frequency of supposed encounters. Consider prayer alone. The energy expenditure to detect all these brain state changes planet wide would be incredible. Further, it would easily be detected in a PET scan. Positrons are anti-matter and it is their destruction that is imaged. If prayer worked then every time you prayed it would interfere with PET scans, if there were a God who listened to prayers. You could see it and in fact the technicians would have to ask you to not pray to prevent interfering with the equipment.

wonderin: The answer is no, because to claim affiliation with God is to claim the belief that He made our first parents therefore, us. Science simply means, "knowledge". Evolution, as it is understood, does not mean that people just appeared from nothing. Evolution entails "convergence", that is a very gradual and slow process whereby, things evolve to adapt, which takes thousands of years. Scientists currently, are rejecting Evolution as a plausible hypothesis for life see: Center for Science & Culture web-site (CSC) at www.dissentfromdarwin.org - here's where many Scientists from prominent Universities and Colleges worldwide give the evidence against Evolution. Science therefore, does not accept this as proof. Now; the otherside of the "coin" - God.
Is there Scientific evidence for a Creator out there ? Yes !!!
What is it ? Here's some: Physics: Considering the age of the surface of the earth we live on. Although the earth itself is millions upon millions of years old, the scientific record (Physics) tells us that: the element Uranium (U232) has a half-life (the point where it decays [breaks down] after thousands of years) and turns into the element Lead (Pb). A question then arises; since the earth is millions of years old, why hasn't all of the U232 [Uranium] decayed into Lead [Pb] by now? Was there a re-creation of this earth's surface to support life as we now, know it ? Another proof is found within the fossil record. Within the fossil division (called a phyla) is found a certain layer. referred to by Paleontologists ("fossil" scientists), as the Big Bang Explosion. This Explosion occurred within the Cambrean phyla. What it is - is this: Prior to this layer or phyla, you have nothing but the odd worm or jelly fish fossil - then, all of a sudden there is a sudden emergence of animal vertabrae - the same type of vertabrae we as humans have. This event was a sudden "explosion'' of all types of animal and then, plant life.
So ... what's the big deal ? You see, Darwin's theory of Evolution always is based on a slow, gradual process of divergence ...NOT a sudden explosion of life ! This is common knowledge among Scientists today (worth their "salt") ! Then, there's the prophecy spoken many years in advance within the pages of the Bible, which has come true and about two-thirds of the prophecy remains for our time to be concluded very shortly - within the next few decades. The real creation taking place today, is in the lives of people, who have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I'm not talking about "religion" but about spirituality - the real thing ! It all entails, faith, grace and Jesus Christ - that's it.

Isn't that limiting God? If you believe in God, why not in Creation as it is written in the Bible? There are plenty of scientists who are able to find evidence for Creation (ie Creation Scientists - Ken Ham is one of the leading scientists and researchers).
God did create the world and it was no accident. Evolution isn't even mentioned in the Bible, so Christians don't deny evolution on that basis. If you want to believe in a God, why not a big God who could create the world in 6 days (He rested on the 7th)?

"lets say that god created the FOUNDATIONS for life and from it did we evolve"
Which gives you a basic deism: there is a "first cause" God, but he/she/it isn't interested in us personally and does not intervene on that level.
Nothing like the God of the bible or most other religions, but an historic stance of many enlightenment scientists and some of the founders of the United states.
The trouble with believing in a powerful and loving God *and* evolution lies in the uncaring nature of the latter.
99% of all known species are extinct...
("sorry about that meteor, dinosaurs, but I needed some new ecological niches")
Darwin's "I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created parasitic wasps with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of caterpillars. "
Examples can be multiplied.
Unless you hold the distant deist position, the divide stands: if God cares, and evolution does not, why would the former use the latter?

I belive in co-existence of science & God. Like God powered the process of evolution (or somewhat like that). But my idea of God is something very different from all the people here.. And i'm not a chirstian. That means i wasn't taught that Adam from dirt & Eve from his ribs..I was told God created world and i had the freedom to find out myself how he did it... :)

Firstly, the holes have been filled; evolution is now a proven fact. (Proof details are available on request; please provide an e-mail address.) Secondly, the notion that a god is involved is provably useless: it can predict nothing. For that reason alone, believing in it is pointless -- even if it were true, as it could be.

You are so wrong. There are way more Christians who know about and accept evolution as fact (note: I did not say "believe in", because that is just stupid) There is no reason whatsoever why religion and science cannot co-exist. After all, if you are a believer, you will understand that wisdom and intelligence are what God gave us. He does NOT want it to go to waste.
