I just remember what the Word of God says in 1 Peter 4:14; If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of Glory and of God rests on you.

Often I confront and correct the person saying such things. Because 99% of the time, the criticism and insults are purely based on completely false assumptions and stereotypes, not what I actually do or believe. Of course, I've had to accept the fact that such idiots will always be around.

When people insult the moose, (yes, I have gotten hate mail from Muslims who like to write to mooses), I can't take it personally because they don't even know me and I don't even know them so their opinion of me affects me in no way at all. If anyone criticizes agnosticism, it doesn't matter to me because it IS rather the opposite to religion and naturally religious people are going to differ with me. I can live with that. No big deal.
The thing is ... religion is not a tangible thing. You can't hold it or touch it and it has no feelings. So what do I care if some dork insults it? I don't.
And if they criticize ME, it isn't really ME they're dissing because they don't know me, so what do they know about me. Absolutely nothing.
You know what they say ... "Don't sweat the small stuff."
Cheers!

It depends on by who, how it's presented, where it takes place (i.e., online, in person, or whatnot) and if I know the answer to whatever question. It's different debating with a 30 year old, brainy 'expert' through a forum than with a confused, I-hate-the-world teenager in person.
Overall, I try to avoid a stupid feud but still answer with logic.
It's ironic, I need to study up on my defense as much as my offense. For example, I got in a friendly debate with a borderline atheist/agnostic/Catholic woman once. I pointed out facts that she couldn't answer and, likewise, she pointed out things that I didn't know how to respond to until later.
I found out the answer to her inquiries but, by that point, I had long lost her e-mail address.

Proverbs 27:11 ''Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.''
Im one of Jehovah's Witnesses and if someone questions my faith, then i answer. Respectfully, calmly, yet tactfully. If someone flat out insults me, then it depends. Are they being sincere or are they just testing my patience? Have to differentiate from an honest person and from someone that just wants confrontation.

Nothing .... I think arguing with somebody with regards to this is not worth at all ... I mean, what would you gain if you continue arguing with somebody who do not respect the ideas of other people ...the more you explain, the more they will try to insult you , right? it's better to let them talk and talk until they get tired of insulting you and your faith ...

Well, I have no faith, but I've met a lot of people who do who insult science. I can't quite figure out what it is people have against making reasoned conclusions based on solid evidence... go figure.

I don't have faith, I have scientifically supported, world based, logically argued beliefs. But I do get criticized for having believed in science.

faith that's just a shiny word for belief isn't it? and that's all about not asking. and taking for granted what people say.
and no i don't get upset because i know I'm better then that.
but i do get tired of dealing with blind Faith. so much so that i no longer care how stupid the human sepsis's looks but it dose make me sad.
