20 GB ps3's aren't in production, but you should buy the 60GB ps3 before they go out of stock. The 40GB ps3 will be cheaper, but it cannot play back ps2 games, while the 60 and 80GB ps3's can.

In all honesty, I would say go with the 60GB for a couple of reasons:
1- 60 Gigs isn't really a HUGE amount of hard drive space once you download system updates, game demos, game trailers and movie trailers, not to mention all the "other" content SONY will soon make available.
2- Too much hard drive space is NEVER a bad thing.
3- The 20GB version does not come equipped with a Flash Card Reader or WiFi capabilities which allow you to connect to the internet wirelessly.
4- Yes you can upgrade the hard drive on the 20GB in the future if you needed to but it's not the easiest thing to do specially if you don't even really want to be bothered with having to open up your PS3.
IMPORTANT NOTE: DONOT wait for the 40GB version as it will not have ANY backwards compatibiliy for playing PS1 and/or PS2 games. Meaning that if you own any PS1 or PS2 games, you will NOT be able to play them on the 40GB version.
HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK!

Get the 20GB PS3
If you are not a huge gamer the 20GB hard disk will do fine, you can replaced it any time, its very easy to do it.
The main difference between the two models are that the 20GB does not have card reader neither wi-fi. But you don't NEED them anyway.
Its not true that the 20GB can not play PS2 games.
The 20GB is no longer being produced for America. It is now only produced for Japan. This is due to the fact that people in America likes the 60GB.
However you can find the last American 20GB models for sale online. Try http:\\www.gamestop.com or another website.

Technically they are the same with only a couple of differences:
1). 20GB has no wi-fi
2). 20GB has no memory slots
3). 20GB has no chrome trim (like it really matters)
The thing is, that this 20GB isn't on sale anymore. If you can get - buy that one, since you are not planning to get a lot of games. HDD can easely be replaced with any SATA 5400 RPM 2.5" HDD (same are in laptops). 250GB HDD of this kind'll cost you around 170$.

well if your buying one of them in a retail store(best buy, walmart, etc) then its gonna be hard looking for the 60gb and you wont find a 20gb. but if your getting it off craiglist or a pawn shop then get the 60gb. it has HDMI, built in wi-fi and of course more hdd

if you want to play PS2 games on it, you should get the 60GB because the 20GB won't be able to play them. congrats on your decision. I really hope you get one. you won't regret it.
