Gesso is a primer that goes under everything and ensures your painting surface is optimal.

As the name suggests, liquid white is a fluid paint, with a consistency that's more like cream than the buttery paint you get from a tube. This means it's easy to apply and mix with other colors, both on and off the canvas. It is often used as the first layer in a painting (but on the dries gesso), to create a surface for immediate wet-on-wet painting.

Gesso is used for prepping the canvas before applying acrylic paint. It's a white liquid substance that is thick that you apply so that the paint will go on more smoothly and you won't have to use as much paint.
