how to write a letter to the u.s immigration stating that im in New zealand at the moment,here to attend my grandfather's funeral and I'm also taking a new life christian course in Nz at the moment.And I can't make it to court to sworn in my citizenship.

and i will be heading back to the states on january 2008.

Write a formal letter stating the reason why you are out of the country and inform the Immigration Office that you will be back on January 2008.

Contact a lawyer, that's the best choice to ensure that you don't mess anything up. Personally I would make the trip and then fly back, messing up your papers could end up costing more then a plane ticket.
