My husband received an EPTS (also known as ELS) discharge and is going into the holding unit at basic training tomorrow. When can I expect him to let him come home? I hear 4-7 days but I don't know how true that really is. Thanks!

Thanks, he shouldn't have to go back if he gets a discharge.

He didn't lie about anything. I actually passed BCT but he is having depression problems so they thought it was best to proceed with an ELS. They told him once he got into holding it would be about a week I just didn't know if that was true or not. He said a few others guys that are in there got to leave after a few days.

truly, he will not be a priority for them, so it could take weeks and/or months. this is especially true if the reason he is being discharged is perceived negatively, such he lied about a medical condition or legal issue and they found out about it, or he did not try his hardest and just gave up. If he got hurt while in training, they may hold him until he is completely healed before releasing him, to make sure he doesn't have permanent injuries.

It depends on how much of a backlog there is and how many recruits are being processed. It can be as quickly as a week or as long as a month.

Once discharged it don't take long at all, hopefully he doesn't have to go back.
