Good housekeeping practice to reduce the amount of bacteria in the environment around you, and avoiding crowds of people. And don't take vacations or trips to under-developed countries. As long as you stick to industrialized countries, chances are you can depend on herd immunity of the immunized population repressing outbreaks of those diseases, and therefore won't be as likely to be exposed to them. Make sure your water is treated, and watch where, what and how you eat. And don't get a pet of any sort. Keep the kids out of school, educated at home. Avoid the doctor's office and hospitals. Schools, doctors offices, and hospitals are germ soups. These are the more radical solutions, of course- you will just have to balance your risk against the need. Just keep in mind that when they do have epidemics, those are the places it shows up first. But as a rule, good sanitation, good diet, and sensible lifestyle would be your best first defenses. Not perfect, but a place to start if you are determined to avoid vaccinations.

Be sure everyone is taking a multivitamin and an antioxidant supplement that is well absorbed by the body. Check on the web to be sure the brand you use is well absorbed by the body or it won't do you much good. Cover your mouth when you cough and use a tissue when you sneeze. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer after coughing or sneezing. Keep your distance from people who ARE sick with colds or the flu. If you keep your immune system healthy you shouldn't be getting sick at all.

well you don't necessarily have to take the flue shot because it acts as a precaution, i have a friend whose never had a flu shot and she's never contracted it.
but in order to maximize your protection you should make sure to keep your immune system in top notch. so that means getting plenty of vitamin c, not overstraining your body or exposing it to conditions that would weaken your immune system (ex. taking cold showers and going out in the cold), taking in as much vitamins as you can, eating the right food, and getting some regular exercise.
also make sure your environment and you are sanitized. washing your hands (or up to your wrists or elbows like the doctors), making sure you disinfect your house (washing your dishes well, cleaning the floors, washign sheets/towels/etc)

Keep hands away from face and wash hands frequently. That's about all you can do.
