Chip key is turning off the engine control (no spark, No injection pulse, and fuel pump run). You have to reprogram the immobilizer key too on Nissan Models newer than 1999 NATS 2.0 and 2002 and newer NATS 5.0. You have to have (CONSULT 2) and Nissan Tech like me to reintroduce the key to the car. But you did not state what year yours is. Lot's of early 2000/2001 sentras ECM's in the box under the right wiper arm fail any way. It's the deluxe GLE GXE sentra that have immobilizer. Call the dealer parts department and they can tell you the key for your car has a chip inside it and costs over 45 dollars. Using the wrong key four times causes the car to go into lock mode. You have to program all the keys. Also part number on the ECM has to match exactly or be the correct replacement. Your ecm might also have to be re flashed for the latest soft wear too.
