During work a customer will tell me" "oh, you'll be married soon, and won't have to work your retail job anymore." Another family I was a nanny to the mother said: "You'll find a good guy soon, and marry..." And then another lady at the bookstore told me that I'll have a family someday and marry.
People these are total strangers telling me what I'll be having with love and family. I think it's nice, but why do total strangers tell me this from no where. I don't bring up the subject. They always do! I keep business with business, and then these women start saying this.

Sorry to say only God knows my future not some women saying this. I am 42 not married, and no kids. Who are these weirdos predicting my future, and I am not even seeking them out?

Deb, I think your right where your supose to be. NOT all people are meant to marry and have biological children. My friend who is a social worker. Has NEVER married, nor did she have the desire to ever give birth. Now she is a foster-care mom, and absolutely loves it. She has had one daughter for nearly 2 years (she's 17), and the other foster daughter is 9. So do what you feel is right for you, and don't let anyone tell you your not complete with a husband and kids. Good luck.

A lot of old-fashioned people aren't used to the idea that some woman don't want to get married. There is no need to tell them that you aren't planning a marriage, but don't let them think that you already have the band booked. Just say something like "maybe someday" or just laugh. Then change the subject. They should not be telling you that you will stop working when you get married. Many people assume that married women will stay home to watch the kids, but men do that to! We aren't living 100 years ago! That's actually kind of sexist.

A lot of people think that any normal decent person wants to get married. There are also some pretty nasty assumptions also made about why some people are not married. Is she a sexual adventuress, is she frigid, is she a lesbian or into some other abnormal sex. They are trying to assure you that they regard you as a nice person even though you're single. There is of course a great many normal decent single people out there. As our numbers grow, I believe that we will become known more and more as normal. Many of the early Christians were single as was Christ.

They are trying to make you feel better (not that you feel bad, or have any reason to, but people are funny like that). God forbid you're in your 40s and not married. The just can't get over the fact that you are not married, therefore, they cannot possibly imagine how that might not bother YOU. These idiots should actually be opening their mouths and inserting their foot. They sound like fools.

Looks as if you have already made your choice to be single. Don't woory about what they say. Just tell them that you are not interested in taking care of any man.

I think they are just giving off positive vibes on what they percieve that you want in life.

Maybe something you said inadvertently triggered this reaction from them?
