Let's take a look at why they wouldn't want alchohol in the military:

1: You can't shoot straight
2: You can't march straight
3: Disrupts the discipline of the troops
4: Embarassment in front of sober peers

Quite simply, DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL! Considering all the other stuff that happens on the battlefield, the brass doesn't need drunk drivers to become a higher threat than roadside bombs!

They're not kidding around when they say they'll kick you out. A dishonorable discharge is NOT the way to get out! It will screw over your life afterwards forever, because any new job applications will result in your future boss seeing that discharge, and your chances of being hired will plummet!

Self refer in ASAP if you can (if you want to salvage your career and stay in). If it ends up being a command referral, you'll have no choice. You need to decide if you want to stay in or not. If so, follow the program and get help. If not, ruin your life and get out. It's really that simple and up to you. People that have never had a drinking problem are no help to you. They have no clue what you are dealing with right now. Try to reach out to an older NCO who might have been in your shoes 10 years back. They'll know where you're coming from and can give you relevant advice. Not all of them that are sober nowadays started off that way...

That depends upon why you are getting in 'trouble' with alcohol.

If you are not in firm control of your drinking, you really need to tell your chain of command. Ask them to send you to the post Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (ADAPC) Program. It may have a different acronym these days, but the effect is the same -- evaluation and treatment for substance abuse.

You would not be the first to use such help. Many soldiers have 'issues' and, with treatment, are able to have productive careers.

See your First Sergeant, get some help.

Hard to say when you don't give any details. Obviously kick yourself in the butt and get your crap together, knock off the BS. You can start by going to your 1SG and telling him you have problems but you really want to stay in and you're asking for help. Give yourself over to that and you should come out on top.

It depends on if you really want to stay in or not. Either finish the AA program or keep drinking and messing up. As you already know the Army will help you if you help yourself. I knew a guy that got 2 DUI's and still stayed in. It all up to you. Just enroll in the AA program and you be alright.

You should go refer yourself to ASAP so that way it's not command referred and when it's a self referral its saying you have a problem and you'd like to get help. In the meantime work on the drinking thing or should I say not drinking thing.

Its not easy to quit drinking kid, talk to some of the older guys about it, NCOs and the true leaders.
Ive seen things that no man can imagine drink a little and party, then I lay out and get rest, you have to let things go

suck it up. You knew the Military's rules on alcohol and alcohol consumption. one incident can be forgiven as being young dumb and stupid. a second one cannot. You chose to repeatedly violate Regs. You deserve whatever punishment they hand out.

Take your lumps and accept the fact that you probably earned yourself a RE4 discharge and will not ever get back in to any branch again.

Depends. Do you want to stay in the Army, or do you want to get kicked out?

Because if you do want to leave, you can always go to the fridge for another cold, frosted bottle of malty...

...mmmm, all this talk is making me thirsty.
