Does it have to involve church attendance?

A "true" Christian has no definition. If you have accepted Jesus as your savior, you believe he died for your sins, and you asked forgiveness from JESUS (not a priest) for those sins then you are a Christian and you are saved. Now living like a Christian is to live trying not to do anything that is unpleasing to God. We will naturally fail because we are sinners, but a "true" Christian will try.
If you are able to attend church, you are encouraged to seek fellowship with other Christians.

A True Christian doesn't mean that a person has to be a religious person, a good deed doer, a holly person, attend the church regularly, or even serve god in various church activities.

But a true christian should have Faith in God and trust in him in whatever happens in the persons life.

That doesn't mean the above mentioned things aren't important they are important but no point of being like that if you don't have Faith.

Read Hebrews 11 for a better view.
It speaks about how to please god or what he expects from Christians.

And trust me everything that shines is not gold. Same with Christians. There are a lot of people who ACT as Christians rather than following Jesus.

And to your question church going is important because you get together as one family and worship god.
and for that same reason Christians in Nepal, Indonesia, China, North Korea, Srilanka, India and a lot more Christians who live in countries were religious freedom is very bad risk their life so that they can get together and worship god.

So we being much more fortunate enough to worship god openly must do so as a family.

The argument No True Christian would ever blah, blah, blah is the same as * No True Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge.

The True Xian thingy is usually said by fundie hypocrites who forget the second part of the one commandment that Jesus gave: Love one another.
Fundies are particularly selective in which parts of the bible they deem to be literally true cos they have no clue cos they've never read that Goat Herders' Guide to the Galaxy.

No True Xian would ever disagree with anything another xian ever did … yeah; right. Bring on the witch burnings that every True Xian agreed with.
Clowns are entertaining though; I don’t really want them to wake up.

Historically AND contemporary, Xianity is expressed in many different ways.

One only needs to look at how Catholicism (a more conservative Xian sect) is expressed in the Philippines to understand this.

When people to simply denounce whose they disagree with, they are trying to distance themselves from the negativity of the faith. And, I believe, show an insecurity about their own faith.

In a way it's tragic, as those Inquisitions, Crusaders (& yes even Hitler) all considered themselves Xian. Many were comitting acts (now identified as atrocities) in the name of JC, in the firm belief that they were protecting the same faith expressed by those who'd judge them from outside their milliu.

No Church attendance is not what makes you a Christian, but it will help you to grow as a Christian, because you will hear the word of God preached, fellowship with other believers and also receive communion.
A true Christian is a person who has put his or her faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ and fact that He died on the cross as payment for sins and rose again on the third day to obtain victory over death and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him. John 1:12 tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Christ. The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:10).

True Christian is a term created by man. There are no true Christians. There is only truth in Christianity.

To be a "True Christian" doesn't require to attend church.
A true christian needs to believe in God as the Father and Jesus Christ as the Son, and on the Holy Spirit received through the blood of Jesus Christ Our Savior.
True christian walks in the same image as Jesus Christ did when he was in the World of Man.
It is very difficult for even true christian to stay in the image as Jesus Christ. Temptations of self satisfaction that the devil dangles in front of our faces are always there to get us off course with Jesus Christ.

BUT A TRUE CHRISTIAN ALWAYS REPENTS.

WE ARE ALL SINNERS IN THIS WORLD OF MAN; BUT WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE WORLD WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT; YOU ARE SURE TO STAY FIRM WITH YOUR CONVICTIONS.

READ THE NEW TESTAMENT, SO YOU CAN KNOW HOW JESUS LIVED AMONG MAN.

GOD BLESS! AMEN! SHALOM!

A true Christian adheres to the principles described in the Bible. We understand that the words written there are the inspired Word of God.

We live by faith, not by sight. This means that we believe in things that we cannot touch or see.

We understand that by the Grace of God, and the sacrifice of Jesus, our sins are forgiven and of no further consequence to us. We are free from all guilt, and that is true freedom.

Because of the freedom we have been granted, we are grateful and joyful. This inspires us to do good works, but to give all the credit back to God.

While we would hope that you would join us in this experience, it is, of course, your decision entirely. It is disappointing when someone refuses, but we pray that something, at some time, touches your spirit and your soul to see what we see, feel what we feel, and believe what we believe.

A believer of Jesus Christ and the Scriptures. The Scriptures and Christ go hand-in-hand. And the followers of Christ accept the statements of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. They believe it is more than a compilation of men's lofty thoughts about God. They believe the Bible to be the record of God speaking through distinct human personalities in a way that resulted in a document that accurately speaks for God.

We attend church because it is a venue where we can offer songs and praises to Him and for us to learn more about His words. Through fellowship we also learn how the Lord works in other peoples lives.

Christianity shouldn't be like a buffet restaurant where the believer picks and chooses what to believe and what to disregard: a little of this/a little of that.
A "True Christian" makes a thorough and constant examination of the Scriptures and they apply and teach others what they learn. Even if what they learn is not easy, they do their utmost to practice what they learn. Even if it means they'll be persecuted or be opposed by well-meaning friends and family, they uphold Bible principles at all times.

Is Jesus God? Is he God's son? Do the wicked burn forever in Hell or is hell merely the common grave of all mankind? Do all good people go to Heaven and if they don't what happens to them? Are holidays, smoking, drunkenness etc displeasing to God?

True Christians search for the answers to those questions and more.
