Yes. There are knock off Amaretto liquors. You are not getting the brand name in the well drink... But it will taste similar.

Personally, I've never seen a "well" amaretto. I think the person who orders an amaretto sour is expecting it to be like DiSaronno. If they drink it regularly, then they'll know the difference between the "well" and the top shelf. So in answer to your question: no

Yes, they can. There's usually a cheaper version of amaretto (as opposed to something like DiSarrono).
Just ask.
