I'm 18 (almost 19), and I recently (2 months) went on Paxil for anxiety. I want to stress that I DO NOT have depression and have never felt like this....

For the most part, it has been great.

BUT

I think its made me have suicidal thoughts. It doesn't happen often, and it only lasts for a few hours.....but I get REALLY depressed and actually plan it.

Yes, I realize this is serious.

However, I "snap" out of it within a few hours.

It's only happened a few times, and within the last few weeks.

The thing is, I'm a pretty stable person and I'm actually EXCEEDINGLY happy. I'm not moody, and it's not my personality.

I feel like something's taken over my body.

Could it be the paxil? I know it has these side-effects for younger people, but I'm not on it for depression.

PLEASE HELP. I want to know whether or not I should call my doctor....

Thanks.

Talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

I take Paxil and I'm more suicidal without it than with it; but it may not be the same for everyone.

yes, Paxil is a terrible drug, I know from experience. Also it has a black box warning about suicidal thoughts. Stop the drug immediately and call your doctor. Talk to your parents about it. It's not your fault.

Try anti anxiety medications. To use when you need them. Such as Lorazapam.. It works pretty good.

Print out the web page information and give it to your parents or who ever is involved in your life that can help.

good luck!

Yes you need to talk to the doctor who prescribed the Paxil. It may not be the right medication for you. Do not wait either it only take a few min to make a wrong choice. This drug effects people differently so please do not wait and call your doctor today if possible.

Yes you should call your doctor. It might be the paxil but more then likely it is depression. Anxiety and depression usually run hand and hand. This medicine may not be helping you and you need to change.

STOP TAKING THAT CRAP NOW. You obviously dont like it, and do yourself a favor and stop doing business with the ENTIRE american medical industry unless you are severly wounded..... Argue if you want, pharmacys are selling PEACE OF MIND!! nothing else, and i mean NOTHING ELSE. water soluble capsles that cost fractions of a cent to make and who knows? you could pay anywhere from 1000% mark up to,,,,1000% + markup, either way you will be getting JUNK from a psychyatrist and keeping them living lavish, keep your money, take some natural herbs from the health food store and dont kill yourself.

Call your Doctor NOW! Suicidal thoughts can come from a bad reaction to an antidepressant, and if you don't change it you might act on the thoughts. Please don't act on the thoughts, but do call your Doctor.

yes. tell your doctor. with mood stabilizers during the first two weeks, there is a big risk for suicidal thoughts. please please tell your doctor. the drug doesn't know what your on it for which is why you get tired with antihistamines. it only does its job. please tell your doctor. there are so many people who are affected by this
