What you say would depend on the advertisement you were answering when you submitted your resume. If they said they were accepting applications until the position is filled or until a certain date... by all means, call them. Be extremely polite and say something like:

"Hello, may I speak with your personnel office, please?" When you're connected with the personnel office: "Hello, my name is ___. I submitted my resume for ___ (position name). I was wondering if that position has been filled yet or not."

If they say it has, thank them for their time and get off the phone. If they say it hasn't, ask what additional information or supporting documents you could send them to further your chance of getting an interview. If they give you the opportunity to send any additional information, send another copy of your resume along with it.

If the advertisement had a cut-off date that has already passed, there's not much you can do except presume that you didn't get the job. In which case, you continue to apply for other jobs until somebody does call you in for an interview.

Good luck!

It is never too late to test out an employment situation if they haven't sent you a rejection letter. So just call and be professional and ask if they filled the position and if not, would they consider calling you in for an interview. Good luck to you.

You should have called after 2 or 3 days.

Now would look bad. Just say you hadn't heard anything and ask if the position has been filled.
