I wouldnt trust anything in that book especially about God
unless it was true without the Bible ever being written down

If the Bible was Inspired by God then the only God I am interested in is the one that existed before the book was written and that can be discussed without any reference to that book.
If The Lessons of the Masters are dependant on the book they are written in then by simple peer review standards they are required to be suspect.
Truth should be truth and capable of being real all on it's own.
I would put far more faith in the sun rising and the moon waxing and waning than a book that has only been around in th eformit is in for 500 or so years

anyone wanting to debate my 500 year statement or quote me more passages from that book that I have read more than you have is only displaying your ignorant inability to comprehend what I have written here. and I will just thumbs down your bible cut and paste and viola it wont exist for me ...

The MESSAGE that was to be written in the Bible was true only when spoken, but once it was written in ink, it lost it's credibility. Especially because it was written 400 years AFTER Jesus's departure. How much can you trust a book that was written 400 years after by someone who was not there in the events of the time, nor did he/she witness anything? How can one be so sure as to what to write about something when one hasn't witnessed it? If somebody commits a crime, do you think that cops will ask someone about the details of that crime from someone who was snoring in his bed at the time? Or is the question most suitable for those who have actually witnessed the crime?
Another important point, the Bible has so many versions. There's the King james version, then John, then Luke, then Paul.. etc. Notice that everytime one uses a quote from the Bible, it is often done after one says "according to Luke, Paul, John, Or king james version," .... Why won't people say according to "God" and "God" only? That's because it's evident that John, Luke and Paul were ordinary human beings who unfortunately wrote the Bible in their own interest. That's why neither one of their statements agree w/the others to the fullest extent. There are so many contradictions. And over the years up until now, it has been edited so many times it's now close to impossible to trace back the true nature of the Bible. I have utmost respect for the Bible, because it was intended to be from God. I just don't have any respect for those who have tampered with it, and they will all answer to God for this.

Interesting question. I guess it comes down to faith. Having it I will give you the standard answer to a question like this, since you have restricted the way you want it answered. I can't believe that our universe, and specifically our earth happened by accident. You can talk "Big Bang" all you want. I will always ask what was there before, had to be something. I believe it was someone, God. It's an endless debate. And just so you'll know, the Dead Sea scrolls, and many of the other books of the present day bible were written well over 2000 years ago, in Hebrew, Aramaic, and more recently in Latin and Greek. I don't read any of those languages so I read english translations of them. Are they exact, I doubt it, but they're pretty close.

You kind of need to know how the bible came to be? it has only been like it is now for 1300 years before that it was just a bunch of single manuscripts written by the old prophet as instructed by God the Dead Sea scrolls back up everything it says many times. The bible was true then and is true now as far as it is translated correctly. The Book of Mormon is also true. pray about not just make silly statments

The bible is a book written by 12 guys - 11 Jewish and one Greek, if I remember correctly. My opinion is that this book was written for political reasons. I've read it once cover to cover and discussed it with my cousin who was seventh day adventist - very religious. I was 12, she was 30 at the time. If she could not convince me then... no one can convince me now.

I also find some of the stories in there just plain disgusting. It spreads so much hate... I don't see how people can go around regurgitating so much cr@p from that stupid book... Also, the thing you mentioned with the other question - what the hell is sex and sexual orientation doing in this book?...

For the record - I'm not religious (duh!), but I am spiritual...

Waxing and waning - you must not use such big words in such a small minded section...

I've seen you around here for a few days now. I was considering that you were a thinker. And now I know that you are truly a thinker.

I however know now that you are not much of a historian.

Have you ever heard of the Syriac Bible of Paris?
It dates to 6th or 7th century.

Not that it really matters, but the Council of Nicea is a well known event. So I wonder at your statement about the 500 years.

Not that I am much of a historian, but rather I am more in the lines of Apologetics, so still I say that you haven't really given the Bible a fair shake. It's up to you though, some people are just determined not to believe.

When God stops speaking, whether it is to mankind or to angels, there will be no more Words of God to record. His Word is forever settled in heaven so even if all this world burns up, which it will, His Word will not pass away. Your ramblings make little sense by the way. You do not have your historical facts straight either. There will come a time in your life when your will power, intelligence, and money (if you have any) will not profit you anything. The only way out will be to call upon God. Remember that. When you meet Him personally and hear His voice, you will no longer doubt His Word. Jesus Christ was the Word of God made flesh. His resurrection was seen of many witnesses. Funny how after thousands of years people are still trying to discredit this one man, Jesus Christ, that affected even our time lines of history - B.C. and A.D.
So many mockers, blasphemers and profaners in this last day! I pray God will have mercy on them all.

The Bible is the compilation of years of God's Word.
God's Word has always been true, so therefore, the things in the Bible have always been true.

Under God's inspiration, Isaiah wrote that the earth was "orb" shaped. (Some 700 years before Christ.) It was true then, it remains true today.

Scientific evidence of a catastrophic flood are everywhere around the world, yet scientists deny the Biblical account of it because it does not suit their evolutionary agenda. The flood was true then, and remains a historical fact.

Thanks for using your God given intelligence. Read the original New testament, before king Constantine changed the original Bibile. Constantine and the Roman Government where killing those who followed Yeshuah (Jesus) The Essenes went into hiding and took their direct teachings that Yeshuah gave them. While Constantine had all of the rest burned. it was easy to do back then because only the higher ups in the church had copies and women couldn't read. This began in 324 AD at the council at nicea with Constantine and his click of scribes. For the original new testament google gospelofthenazirenes.com following the original teachings of Jesus will set one free. Totally enlightening.

From what I gather there was a bunch of uneducated fishermen, stone masons, etc., branching out to different parts, preaching what they could remember they were told, confusing it, "winging it" and in the process created many different versions of religious beliefs.. i.e. Baptist. John the Baptist..he made up his own version,.. in my opinion.

It's like the old telephone game... kids sit in a circle and tell the kid next to them something via a whisper .. by the time it goes full circle, the whole story has changed.
