A friend of mine had radical 360 surgery (on her back and sides) and I was wondering, will sleeping longer help her heal faster? How many hrs of sleep/day is optimum? How many hrs of sleep is too many/not effective?

I really appreciate your help!

sleep requirements differ per person. but yes sleeping really does heal even on a cellular level. much research has been made of this if you further require sources. look on line. you can sleep too much then feel drug out usually the body can tell. if you gage how you feel sleeping. too long can lead to depression, sleep apnea, snoring, and bad dreams. moving around after surgery can be beneficial, and prevent many problems from not moving at all. to long in bed at one time may cause pneumonia, increase in infections ,fluid retention, and decreased circulation.etc. best choice ask her doctor. he may give her something to rest.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Sleep does heal your injuries faster, but just keeping immobile is good for sunburn. Not much else you can do. It may well make some difference, but not very much. I speak from experience here- remember suncream if you're off to Cyprus!

Yes, your body does indeed heal itself during sleep.

Yes. Human body has more cell reproduction rate when sleeping. The more time you sleep, the more cells grow, the faster the recovery.
