I am just amazed that there wasnt more outrage over it. I think that if it actually changes textbooks to reflect a pro gay attitude then it will create an issue in local communities but in reality I dont think it will change much about education. The liberal districts already force their own versions and the more conservative ones pretty much just stick to sex ed.

It isnt like textbooks have biases either way on peoples sexual orientations.

This just proves that the far left truly has divided up the state to make sure that the most outrageous liberal laws pass despite what the people in this state really want. This is the same legislature that just weeks after the marriage btwn one man one woman initiative in an overwhelming majority tried to introduce legislation that would allow for gay marriages. This legislature has ZERO respect for the voters in CA.
What blows me away is that the governer actually signed this. I guess he did the poll numbers and realized most people didnt even know about this bill. He probably got some support for some of his programs and that is why he signed it.

ah, the textbook initiative.

Too bad the fundies didn't get their SB with this number. I am reminded of CA's SB 420, the Medical Marijuana initiative.

On the subject, I think it's a fine thing. The bible has been making homosexuality and other CA traditions sound as attractive as drinking, whoring, and adultery. This just brings it out of the gutter.

I don't know what you're talking about, and I live in California. Post a link.
Edit: Oh, it's about not discriminating among students. I see nothing wrong with it. It's about time.
