Sometimes the problems of the world seem so overwhelming, and I am just one person, so I often resort to prayer. Usually I pray the Rosary. What prayer do you usually pray?

The Lord's Prayer! The one where Jesus is teaching the crowds to pray. In it Jesus asks God for His Kingdom to come! This is the only solution to all the mess in the world. History has shown that mankind ruling himself has been a disaster! May the Lord get here soon....we need Him!

I dont know where it says in the Bible that collective prayer is effictive or more powerful than ordinary prayer, I do know that it says something like "the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" although I cant qoute the text. The world has problems cause people are evil. we cant expect to just pray and suddenly everythign is fine, although that would be great. If you know your bible then you know of mans disobedience to God and the subsequent fall. It is becuase of mans sin that the world sucks spiritually and we should be praying but I think it also depends upon Gods will.

Lord, please open my eyes to the opportunities that are all around me to have an influence for You and to be a witness to You. Lord, please bring situations and people into my life that I can touch for Your sake, so that I can be salt and light in the world, so that I can fulfill the purpose You have given me. In Christs name, Amen. You may say," Did she read my question, how is this good for the world?" Well, just imagine if every Christian yeilded themselves to be used of God and worked to fullfil the great commission. What a transformation would take place on planet earth! Just imagine if every Christian led just one person to Christ every year. It would be phenominal !!Think of the impact that Billy Graham has had on the world or D. James Kennedy for instance. Always remember that Christianity changes the world one heart at a time. God bless!!

Jesus taught us the model of prayer. You know what I am talking about because it is included in your rosary prayers. Prayer should be led by the Holy Spirit and not just repetitive routines. God knows what you need before you even ask. When you are born again.baptized in the Holy Spirit you surrender to God's Spirit and let Him pray through you. You are His child and He knows what you need. You can talk to Him directly. "Our Father who art in heaven....."

I pray the Rosary. My favorite prayer in the Rosary is "Oh my Jesus..."

Here are two:

"MOST Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference by which He is offended. And through the infinite merit of His Most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners." - Angel of Fatima Prayer

"Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." (St. Faustina, Diary - 476).

It is the intention that matters not the words. Pray in whichever language you want. If your intention is true, the prayer is true, otherwise it would only be a futile exercise.

I agree with this simple one...

"I pray earnestly that the Light in this advanced age will so illumine the world that all may rally under the banner of Unity and receive Spiritual education.

Then those problems which cause difference among the peoples of the earth will be seen no more, for verily they are not. You are all waves of one sea, mirrors of one reflection."

(Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 48)

Metta (loving-kindness) meditation is a good prayer for the world, as well as for yourself and others.
