Unlike all other religions, Christianity alone possesses a founder who transcends death and who promises that His followers will do the same. All other (false) religions were founded by men and prophets whose end was the grave. As Christians, we take comfort in the fact that our God became man, died for our sins, was killed, and was resurrected the third day. The grave could not hold Him. He lives and He sits today at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. The living church has a living Head.

we need to know something about the background of the world’s religions. As Geoffrey Parrinder states in World Religions—From Ancient History to the Present: "To study different religions need not imply infidelity to one’s own faith, but rather it may be enlarged by seeing how other people have sought for reality and have been enriched by their search." Knowledge leads to understanding, and understanding to tolerance of people with a different viewpoint.
Why Investigate?
Have you ever thought or said, ‘I have my own religion. It is a very personal matter. I do not discuss it with others’? True, religion is very personal—virtually from birth religious or ethical ideas are implanted in our mind by our parents and relatives. As a consequence, we usually follow the religious ideals of our parents and grandparents. Religion has become almost a matter of family tradition. What is the result of that process? That in many cases others have chosen our religion for us. It has simply been a matter of where we were born and when. Or, as historian Arnold Toynbee indicated, an individual’s adherence to a certain faith is often determined by "the geographical accident of the locality of his birth-place."
Is it reasonable to assume that the religion imposed at one’s birth is necessarily the whole truth? If you were born in Italy or South America, then, without any choice, you were probably raised a Catholic. If you were born in India, then likely you automatically became a Hindu or, if from the Punjab, perhaps a Sikh. If your parents were from Pakistan, then you would obviously be a Muslim. And if you were born in a Socialist country over the last few decades, you might have had no choice but to be raised an atheist.
Therefore, is the religion of one’s birth automatically the true one, approved by God? If that had been the concept followed over the millenniums, many among mankind would still be practicing primitive shamanism and ancient fertility cults, on the premise that ‘what was good enough for my ancestors is good enough for me.’
Furthermore, when it comes to worship, is it not God himself who should determine what is and is not acceptable?

If I were you, I would start by asking myself why I was interested. A lot of people say that it is because they feel something is missing from their life, others say that they are being convinced of something they just can't put their finger on.
I was that way too.
I knew something was going on, and somehow I was involved, and then didn't know much more than that.
The someone - it was my barber, started telling me about Jesus Christ. And I found out that he is the friend of sinners. It doesn't matter how bad I might be, God loves me.
Well, if God loves me and I was feeling a pull into a direction, then I thought that would explain the pull I was feeling in myself towards something. I knew what it was like when I felt like I wanted a woman. I knew what it was like to want a certain car,
more money, new friends, etc. But this wasn't like any of those other things.
I found out that Jesus liked people who knew they had problems. The people who never seem to have problems have trouble seeing why they need him. I was one of those people who needed him.
So I started trusting him and told him about it, and he responded to me.
Now I don't have to wonder any more about other religions. I have what Jesus said in the Bible. And I listen to any preacher I want to in order to try to learn more about him. I do that online sometimes here:
http://twft.com/?page=C2000
Now the Bible isn't so confusing. Twenty years will do that to a person. If you study seriously and pay attention to what you are learning - prayer helps too.
I hope this helped you think about it. I found peace in Christ. Trusting God makes peace with God - that's what He wants from us.
You can e-mail me if you want. You probably have lots of questions.

Many people will talk about religions. However there is only ONE God. Many deny Him, many love Him..but no matter how anyone believes, He is the ONLY God.
Christianity is not a religion as some believe it is. It is more than religion. Its following the one true God. People can try to deny this but in the end, we are ALL judged. God gives everyone a choice, to be one of His children or to walk away from Him.

Try starting by visiting a local protestant church (I prefer the baptist although denomination doesn't matter a lot), listen to the minister, and read the bible until you get a grasp of the message of salvation.
The main thing you have to know is that Jesus is the Son of God, that He took on all of our sins and paid for them by dying on the cross. Then He rose on the 3rd day to overcome death. He offers that same victory over death to all of us who accept the salvation He offers freely.
You just have to ask forgiveness for your sins, and try to follow a life of love for your fellow man. You can have a very fulfilling life and live with Him forever in heaven.
Jesus is the only person in all the religions you may study who overcame death. He sacrificed Himself for us. Any religion that does not include Him is hopeless.

Try this site:

And this one:

You might also want to take the Belief-O-Matic quiz over at Beliefnet.com:
http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html
It's fun, and it matches you up with a wide variety of religions and philosophies based on your answers, with write-ups for each one. The results can be very surprising.
EDITED TO ADD: Christians, please... what part of "learn about all different religions" did you NOT understand? Your religion is only one among many (and yes, sociologically speaking, it IS a religion -- followers of other faiths have just as personal a relationship with their Gods as you do with yours, and not all religions have the concept of "join us or be damned".)

LEARN STRAIGHT FROM THE BIBLE! Forget about Religion! What you should seek is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus is who you need to learn about and love. Jesus is the only way to salvation. Accept his gift of Salvation that only he can give.

study them all and see which one lines up with your own beliefs. I personally am most like a christian, but not everything in the bible is true, its been altered, so I kinda just believe what I think is right. Just try to avoid religions that start with M like muslim and mormon, and you'll be headed in the right direction

Information on LaVeyan Satanism can be found there but the best place to look is the Satanic Bible written by Anton Szandor LaVey. He's the founder of the religion.
