I have a tattoo that I got done in two parts on my lower back. Different parts of the tattoo felt differently, some hurt more and some less. If you take your fingernail and scratch your skin, that is kinda what it feels like...only for a lot longer. It really isn't that bad. Like I said, I went back and had it added on to and I'm not very good with pain. I'm also planning my next tattoo!

A slow, vibrating cut. As most will tell you, it only becomes really painfull if you get it on area without much meat - like when an upper arm tattoo approaches the elbow.

like a bee sting or a bad cat scratch.. Ok so the cat scratch doesnt stop till the tattoo is finished and then it just feels like a sunburn for a few days.

Well for me.....it feels like if someone was to keep punching you in the same spot over and over again. it also feels like pins and needles like when your arm falls asleep. for the most part it's really not that bad. I personally find it relaxing. i know weird. But i do suggest that if you are going to get one for the first time start off with something small, not a huge one. good luck, enjoy. p.s. just know that after your first one they are addicting and you will want more!!!

I've always said it feels like someone's scratching your skin with a nail. It hurts, but nothing you can't handle. If it was that bad, people wouldn't be covered in them. :) It will feel like your skin MUST look like ground meat while he's doing it, but once it's over the pain quickly goes away.

Temporary pain is worth life long happiness! :)

Almost like a razor... just not as bad. It's something anyone would be able to handle, but at long periods of times you gatta have a higher threshold for pain.

Not bad at all. It burns, and sometimes actually tickles :P

depends on where you get it and how your pain tolerence is... i have a high pain tolerence and to me it doesnt really hurt at all.. if anything it like a annoying pain that doesnt go away til the tattoo is finished it it only really hurt on the bone

The first 2 (Back & Neck) made me feel nauseous, get cold sweats and practically throw up. The next one (ankle) was much easier and the one on my arm...didn't even hurt.

it is different for everybody.
for my three crosses on my wrist i didnt feel a thing (HONEST)
for my rose on the bottom of my left arm it tingled at first then turned to a dull pain.
the rose on the top of my left arm was a mix; parts i never felt, but when the needle was close to a never it did hurt significantly... :-(
then there is the one in my right calf...it killed almost the entire time...it didnt swell, but it took forever for it to heal enough for me to shave it (gross and itchy :-( )
and thats it for now.... i am considering getting one on my left shoulder, well not the shoulder shoulder, but the top of my shoulder going towards my neck. if my guessing is rihgt, its going to hurt like heck :-(....
