My living room is a deep red (not burgundy) on the bottom, gold on the top, and chocolate chair rail, baseboard, and crown moulding. Entryway is a vanilla with the chocolate trim and bedroom is chocolate with vanilla trim. My son's bedroom (he's 5) is white with a bold red 6" stripe around the top of the wall and trim is red. Kitchen is black, white, and cream, with red accents. Dining room is a gray/taupe color with vanilla trim. Basement is not finished yet. Don't know what I'm going to do down there...I'm thinking a movie theme, though.

Living room and hallway are khaki tan. Bedroom is chocolate brown with icy blue curtains. Kitchen cupboards are off white and the kitchen has the same khaki tan from the living room (the rooms are open to each other). Bathroom is a light aqua/teal/blue on the top half, a darker khaki tan on the bottom half and has a 6 inch stripe of chocolate brown that runs around the middle. I used white pin striping tape that is used on cars to edge each side of the chocolate brown stripe and cover the paint lines that were ragged in some spots from pulling off the painters tape. The white pin striping picks up the white sink and toilet.

I use the colors as accent walls, I can't live with too intense painted walls:

My living room, entry hall and hall to kitchen are a purplish -periwinkle. Accents such a iron railings are Chinese red. Dining room has one goldenrod colored wall, the rest are neutral to tone. End of bedroom hall is apricot.

Now from original house designer, when the finish coat, the texture coat went over the ceilings, it was colored. So we had mauve textured ceiling, blue textured and gold textured. Only the gold remains. The color was not total, just dabbled on and knocked flat. In the living room the original builder took either tape or lath to the ceiling in a diamond pattern and dabbed the final coat over, then pulled the tape. The color was black! Black diamonds on the ceiling! How we lived with it for 5 years I can't imagine.

Color is fun and so easily corrected if you blow it or inherit a monstrosity.
