I've heard that you can determine if eggs are bad by submersing them in water. If they float, they are spoiled. (gases from the bacteria build up.. I think I read this somewhere.. Good Housekeeping or something) I've tried this and it seems to work, although I can't say for sure since the few floating eggs I've come across I've thrown away! Good luck!

Immerse the egg into cold water.
If it floats - it is on the turn, dispose of it.
Provided it stays on the bottom of the receptical or is only slightly lifted it is fine to eat.
Only try this if the egg is at room temperature not straight from the fridge.

*** They last a very long time, the way to tell if they're still good is put them in a bowl of water, the temperature doesn't matter, an older egg will start to float. I use them as long as they don't leave the bottom. what happened is when the egg gets older it gets a bigger air pocket as egg contents evaporates

Hold it up to a light. The more air space you see in the egg the older it is.

yes. slowly drop it in a glass of water. if it sinks and stays there, it is 3 to 6 days old. if it is at the bottom but stands up at an angle, it is about more than a week old. if it is still at the bottom but is standing on either end, it is about two weeks old. if it floats, it is no longer consumable.

You have to spin it, and if it stands up while spinning, its a good egg. If it doesnt stand up , its a bad egg.
