Seems quite odd to me. Like the greatest part of the message is lost...

Yes, it is weird, but what is even weirder is that the Jewish
Sadducees of Jesus' day did not even believe in the
Resurrection....
Acts 23:8 For the Sadducees say that there is no
resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit:
but the Pharisees confess both.
They were the two big religious groups of Judiahism at
that time and they sure disagreed on important issues.

Most of the practices of the JWs is "weird" they are thought that they should try to avoid the subject of hollidays with there new bible students so as not to turn them off to the "Religion until they get "the hook" in them. They know from experience that most people will BOLT if they learn of all the rules guide lines and rituals, This is why I stress that people do the research before joining the JWs or ANY group , it's just common dog sense ! Most people will spend more time researching a wash machine b-4 buying it than they will a cult before devoting there lives to it. The JWs are the most honest good hearted people I have ever known but they are also naive and like any cult they cant see that they are in one until l thet have had an Awakening!

This "Lord's Supper" is the only thing Jesus commanded us to observe (Luke 22:19; 1 Cor. 11:24).
Birthdays were not even celebrated by Jews at that time and there is no reason to think that Jesus or his followers did that either.
Instead, the earliest Christians celebrated the death of fellow Christians.

I don't think it's weird to do what Jesus said we should do, which was to remember the night before he died. If everybody on earth followed Jesus' teachings, this would be a wonderful place.

Good point Superman Azul.
There is an African proverb "Why ask whether a dog is male when you know it doesn't wear underwear?"
Point is, no need to answer a person who knows the answer already.

Only if you chose not to follow Jesus' words presented at Luke 22: 19-20, "19Â Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body which is to be given in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 20Â Also, the cup in the same way after they had the evening meal, he saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in YOUR behalf."
Paul repeated them at 1st Corinthians 11: 23-26,"23Â For I received from the Lord that which I also handed on to YOU, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was going to be handed over took a loaf 24Â and, after giving thanks, he broke it and said: “This means my body which is in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25Â He did likewise respecting the cup also, after he had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep
doing this, as often as YOU drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26Â For as often
as YOU eat this loaf and drink this cup, YOU keep proclaiming the death of the
Lord, until he arrives."

Not weird at all. It's more realistic than believing that he rose at all. Those that saw him {spirit?} have kept him alive by their intense desire to see him again.
