Yellow in the eyes could be jaundice which is from liver disease. This is very uniform - the entire white of the eye is the same shade of yellow.

Also, some people's sclera (the white part of the eye) naturally turns yellow with age - this will usually be patchy - some parts will be yellower than others and other parts will look almost completely white. This isn't anything to worry about.

If there's any question, call your doctor up and see what tests s/he did. If the test call "total bilirubin" was normal at the time that your eyes were yellow, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Yellow eyes and/or skin is referred to as jaundice. It can be caused by many different conditions. One of the primary reasons is from hepatitis, but you said that that is already been ruled out. From there it could be from an infection such as Malaria if you live or have recently visited a tropical climate. It could also be from anemia sickle cell anemia or several different types of deficiency. Another major possibility is that it is from gallstones. Other possibilities include various types pancreatic cancer. My suspicion is the most likely cause is from gallstones or some other obstruction in the urinary and fecal systems. If you have consistently dark urine or light stools, or lots of itching, that is another common symptom. Go back to the doctor, or another doctor and have them run more tests as usually jaundice isn't a good sign. For more information read the wikipedia article on jaundice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaundice

The best of luck to you, take care.
