Ok, I am 31 and not overweight, but at the high end of my normal weight. I have had a severe eating disorder when I was younger that really almost killed me, so I have to watch it or I'll get triggered. I am eating healthy stuff (nothing fried, friuts, veggies, lean meats, etc.) but not starving myself. I am walking 3 miles a day. I have been doing this for a week and I haven't lost a pound. I estimate I have been eating 1200-1500 calories a day. If I keep this up will I lose weight or have I ruined my metabolism from abusing my body in the past? Thanks for the imput. I need some enlightment, I am discouraged.

Sounds like you are doing great. Eating right is key as well as exercising, and you are doing both!
Now the key thing is that you need to stay with it.
No, you will not notice any results right away, but you will if you continue this type of exercies/diet combo.
You will probably start to see results in a 2-3 weeks, at a rate of 1-2 pounds a week if you keep it up. Good luck with it.

No..just keep at it. I'd suggest you keep as accurate a food journal as you can. Write down everything you eat with calorie count. That will give you an idea of where you need to make changes. If the calories are good then you need to raise the intensity of your walks..try jogging for one minute and walking until you recover enough to jog again for another minute. Since you've had an eating disorder it might take a bit more intensity with the exercise to get things moving..be patient it will work...good luck..and keep an eye on the triggers if you feel yourself relapsing head straight for your doctor...hope this helps.

I suggest you don't get discouraged. Yes eating disorders can change your metabolism. I suggest to focus more on getting and staying healthy rather than losing weight. Remember too you may not see results right away and as you build up your muscles from running you actually gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat. Just eat healthy- water to drink, lots of fruits and veggies and lean meats like fish, chicken, turkey, and ocassionally some carbs.

Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at http://www.better-life-thinner.us where they have a free trial and you only pay $6.95 shipping and handling.
Good luck!

I cant say that you will lose, gain, or stay the same weight with that. Exercise is different for everyone. You should always do small everyday things to increase calorie burn. For example, walk up stairs, not on the elevator. Stand more than sit, walk around during commercials or breaks, etc.. It might not seem like much, but it will definately add up.

my parents are a little bit older than you and they've lost a lot of weight, my dad was 330 pounds and now he is 170, and my mom lost a lot too. what they did was ran, a lot. they both run marathons. they eat healthy food, not diet foods, and on the weekends they treat themselves to what ever they want. Maybe the key to your weightloss is running. Just when my mom thought she would never lose weight, she started running and now shes happy with her self. but as far as it possibly being your disorder from years ago, i'm not sure, you might want to ask your doctor if you are planning on visiting some time soon.

may I suggest introducing a bit of cross training?
http://www.mkprojects.com/pf_TibetanRites.htm
only five exercises but it might take working up to it before you are doing all five for 21 times a day
once you become proficient it would take less than 15 min a day
all the info you need is there in print friendly format but if you find chance to read the books (there are now 3 versions not 2) it will help you maintain interest even once you are reformed

You need to find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter your stats and find out how many calories a day you need to lose/maintain/gain weight.
1200cal borderline is rarely enough for a 4 feet tall person.
If you dont consume enough calories you might slow down metabolism even more and only lose water weight and muscle not fat and then regain it back.

If you continue to do this you will lose weight. At your age you could also try somthing a little more active than just walking though it will work. Try arobics, or pilates or yoga. These will also increase your flexibility and muscle mass as you lose the wieght. Good luck.
