I once fixed a Toyota Truck that had the same problem. It had been serviced at an independent shop 3 times trying to fix it. I heated up the trans and found it to be 2 quarts too low. I hope your problem is that simple. Be sure that the engine is at operating temp and the fluid is good and hot before checking the level, and have the truck level, at idle and in Park.

First thing would be to check the transmission fluid. It should be at the correct level and be clear-red and smell like Chesnuts. If it at the wrong level or is brown and smells burnt, replace the fluid.

Automatic transmissions are sensitive to fluid levels.

Hopefully it's this easy. If not, you may have more complicated transmission problems.
