i came across it on a "this program has to close" error message.is it pre installed or an official Microsoft program? i never even knew it was on my pc and i cant find it when i search or look in my add or remove list.i have had this pc for years now and it surprises me how i have missed or not had any knowledge of this program.

Yes, Dr. Watson is a pre-installed program with Windows. There are dozens of other programs that you never heard of.

It's a debugging tool that gives you some hints on system errors. It's not that good. The documentation is poor and the built-in messages are poorly written and often incorrect. Such bugs are the legacy of many Microsoft products. They innovate way beyond the bugs that they left behind. Someday, Microsoft might start utilizing quality procedures and methods in their development efforts.... maybe not.

Dr. Watson is something thats really old, used in many previous versions of Windows, if I remember correctly, its a monitoring tool to track faults within Windows.
