I personally use a bath chair, the kind elderly people use, as a nightstand and drape old sheets over anything unsightly I want to conceal. Hoarders have a decor all their own! :)

Personally, I hate anything that is permanent and tacky....like all those crappy wall treatments that Hilde does on Trading Spaces. Hay on walls or flowers stapled to the wall, for example.

I also know that as much bang for the buck as you can get with paint, it is not the end all be all of decorating. You cannot solve all of the world's decorating dilemmas with paint. I particularly hate painted wood furniture. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it gives the right look. Most times, it just looks like you are trying to salvage a piece, or were too lazy to strip and refinish it.

I hate fake wood.

And I hate hate hate cheap bedding.

My best looks are always pretty simple so another thing I hate is overdoing anything, especially with cheap items chosen for quantity instead of quality. Instead, I like minimal pieces, so you can spend more on them, and so what you do have is really showcased. Usually I start with things that are functional, making sure they are also beautiful, and don't go much beyond that.

Dried flower arrangements. I never thought that decorating with dead things was a good idea.
Country blue and wooden geese wearing wide brimmed straw hats. Wooden hearts and wood shaker peg racks with little hearts cut out in the middle of them. Bedrooms that are done in a matchy matchy set. Flowered bedspread, flowered curtains that match, flowered side tablecloth that match. The cheapest decor I remember seeing is someone using a picnic table and the two benches as a dining room table and chairs.
