Uncooked beef is good for 3-5 days. If you froze it, it should be fine for 6 months to a year (by fine I mean safe to eat - it may not taste as good after a year in the freezer!).

I also always do a 'sniff' test...if it smells gross, toss it.

If you froze it when you bought it, it's fine. If it sat in the fridge for several days before you froze it, it's maybe good, maybe not. Don't thaw it until the day before you know you're going to use it. Then stick it in the fridge to thaw.

Once you unwrap it, sniff it. If it smells funky, pitch it. If it doesn't smell, run your finger across it. If it feels slimy, pitch it.
