Yikes. I would definitely invest in a private teacher, or at least join a beginner's orchestra. Some can be very cheap, or free even. Playing with someone is the best way to really learn. A computer can't tell you how to fix things.

Edit: A couple teachers I know would, actually. They do it as something on the side. They have other jobs, so they can afford teaching someone how to properly play the violin for free. It's just a little hard to find someone like that though sometimes, but there ARE cheap options out there as well, and they would certainly be better than online lessons.

OK, Jade. I live in the UK and I teach violin ( more folk fiddle that anything.) If you go to my answers page and email me, I'll see if I can help. I've often thought that it should be possible - a webcam might help. The major problem would be time difference between where you live and the UK. Hope this helps.
